Heard something about a shooting at Huck's tonight. Does anyone know anything? Can't find anything as far as news and Facebook is hearsay. Does anyone know anything at all? Weakley County just seems to be getting worse :(

With all due respect..what do you suggest MPD should do?

Kinda hard to solve crimes when all you hear when looking for witnesses is "I dinnt see nuffin" ....and since snitching can be
bad for your health in that neighborhood...it's understandable.

But hopefully some witnesses will come forward anonymously and
help bring the shooters to justice.

It was gang related. We now have crpyts and gangsters disciples. The dude was an innocent bystander. He was flown out to another hospital and coldn't feel lower body. Police try to get info but all witnesses tell them they didn't see anything. They need to fess up and let police get some thugs off street.

They need to start patrolling that neighborhood more and quit worrying about who is wearing their seatbelt or not!!!!!

do you realize how much we spend patrolling that area? All sorts of grants and over time. A pile of money..tax money wasted ...they need to stop living and acting like animals.

Yeah, I know that they do patrol that area, but ultimately it is not where the police can be everywhere at once. The people themselves need to mind their own business and stay away from things that could potentially go bad. Also, there are a lot of good things our police do for people. When people are hanging around where they shouldn't, well "guilty by association" comes to mind.

first off there are decent but low income families that live in that area with children themselves that are not involved in drug related or criminal activity so please dont judge everyone for a few others poor judgement & behavoir!

You are exactly correct. I imagine some who live there would love to be in a quieter, safer, neighborhood, or would like for that neighborhood to be that way. Are there still senior citizens there?

We all in this together rich poor black white it don't matter. So we all need to take a stand and get the police to do a better and our soiry government and mayors to clean up and keep drugs off the streets not just here but everywhere and other crimes. If thegiv really wanted to they could put a stop of eliminate alot of our problems if they wanted but look at what they gain from it. We need to take and get back our kids our Christianity and what is right from them no good crooked government. We put them there and we can take them out

The Police can only do so much. It takes the community willing to step forward and report these people. The problem is no one wants to "get involved". The Police were not the ones to shoot take guy, sell the drugs or break the law. I'm sure others knew those idiots were walking around with drugs and guns but yet no one called to tip the police off about anything.

I have known Josh for a long time....he is a good kid and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is the 3rd shooting there that is gang related, what has happened to weakley county? And who cares about snitching....if no one talks then who will? No one should get away with killing anyone no matter what the consequences are so people should do the honest thing and if they saw something then they need to sing like a bird! I would!

I totally agree! Police officers shouldn't worry about stupid seatbelts (I wear mine but that should be a persons choice) and watch the crime neighborhoods, make Martin a safe place to live! We need a way to encourage people to talk without being afraid! Maybe if people in the community would just drop a letter in the mail box to the police department with tips on crime and drugs that would help our police to make Weakley County a #1 safe county! Come on people talk about what you know and help our police officers!!!

Seatbelts are a law! So when you don't wear it, you are breaking the law. Police didn't make the law, government did. That is one thing the police can see with their own eyes to try to keep people safe. I can't blame them for doing their jobs. I would love for them to give a child of mine who is driving a ticket if they weren't wearing their seatbelts. That may save their lives if they had a wreck. But back to the subject-tell if you know something. Police are not omnipresent or omnicient. God is the only one who is!

Only personal morals govern how anyone person acts. Me, if I knew who had pulled the trigger(s) I would find away to tell the police. I would tell them straight up, but there are ways of letting them know without revealing who you are. The only catch is, there needs to be some corroborating evidence to go along with your information, location of gun(s), clothing, etc. The police can only go so far with certain info. So someone needs to do the right thing

To the seat belt issue. If it were only those who didn't wear seat belts who were injured and/or killed, you might have an argument. Unfortunately, that us nit the case. Try to picture this...you are an unrestrained driver who is sideswiped or rear ended. If you are bouncing around during an accident, you cannot control the vehicle, increasing the probability of more severe injuries..not just to you, but to your passengers and the occupants of the other automobile.
