I was looking in the newspaper and noticed that there are several parents being arrested for failing to send kids to school. What do you guys think about this? Me personally think that this is a bad idea. Not only will kids be depressed that their parents would be in jail but this was never a issue in the past. The law was less strict, you was allowed to miss whenever you wanted and still turned out fine. Not only that, schools was much safer because people was allowed to bring guns to school and everyone would be able to defend each other in a crisis, there was more freedom. Now it seem that the only option to get freedom over your kids is to home school them. It's like the government is the parents now and the "actual" parents is just slaves.

So because you sound like an uneducated idiot and make a ridiculous point I need to repent? You need to repent to getting out of the sticks.

At least I'm not the one trying to start a argument, there's a name for people like you but since topix censors words I'll have to let you guess what that word is. What you are doing is cyber bullying and it is not tolerated. Either stop now or explain to the police why you are doing it.

I believe in sending your kid to school...and some of it is not the parents fault...so kids refuse to go because of bulling and the school does nothing...some kids does not have the clothes or shoes to go...some families are having a hard time just feeding and keeping shelter over their kids...the older student gets embarrassed easily...and then yes there is the lazy .drugged out parent who can not wake up and get their kid off from school...the schools and we as a community need to help.....HOW?

Lol! It's not cyber bullying. You're not using your real name. That's like saying someone threatened YOU just because they said they were going to kill SOMEONE.

And for the record guns have never been allowed in schools. That's like bringing gasoline to a forest fire.

I remember hunting rifles being in the high school parking lots back during the late 70s. Nothing was said, it was deer season. Some of the teachers even had deer rifles, I have seen teachers and students compare hunting equipment back during those years. The world sure has changed...

The parents should be punished if the kid misses school excessively. The parents are responsible for the kids going to school so they can and should be help liable. If they do, this has to mean the parents are doing a shitty job at raising there kid

Not necessarily, I for example was a sickly kid growing up into my teens. I was in the hospital allot and had several operations, one time I was in the hospital for almost a month. They tried to get my parents for allowing me to be truant school excessively as you put it, but my medical records from the doctors and hospital proved I was getting needed medical treatment at the time.

This brings back bad memories for me in one of my years at high school, I was cursed out by several teachers and a coach, they did not want to be bothered with helping me catch up with class assignments and physed requirements. I finally convinced some teachers and a coach at the high school to allow me to catch up on school work and gym class to graduate that year. So it does not always mean bad or uncaring parents.
