Anybody want to comment on the road to fame contest last night at the MAC.....Good crowd, tickets were expensive....thought the winner would come in last place though. Have never been good at these contests though. Holly Thompson, from Wayland was the winner, even though she had to do her song over because she messed up.

Hey, so what if she did her song over, she was stunning to look at! That male jugde loved her...lol

I agree she should have come in last place. PCG Nashville is exploiting this area. Who has seen any proof that music education has been funded beyond the measly $250 they gave to 4 schools last night. We've been made a fool of long enough. Time to run these crooks out of town and back to wherever they came from. Such a joke! If I was her I would have left and accepted defeat right after the pitiful performance. I mean I felt sorry for her....made me a nervous wreck that she messed up that terribly. It was awkward but not nearly as awkward as the crowds reaction to her winning. This contest is a joke....almost as big a joke as that Porter con artist.

Confused hit the nail on the head. I hope the aspiring singers/musicians of Eastern Kentucky won't be fleeced again by these con-artists. Spread the word and anyone who is thinking about trying out for 2014, advise them not to do so. There shouldn't be a third year or any more beyond, and all likelyhood, probably won't be. It has brought embarrassment and shame to the heritage and history of the Country Music Highway.

PCG took a nobody from pikeville last year Logan Hall and he is now making a living in music. I would say that is success. Many of last years contestants have gone on to play and make good livings and most of them would not have had the confidence to do that if it had not been for this program. Other contestants have met people in Nashville that can help and are helping their careers. Some contestants have gone on to win national awards. You have to look at programs
Like this 5 years later. It takes time to build and for the success to come forward. Bernard Porter has done a great job putting this program together along with our local tourism and ADD. The success will be there and actually it is there. The improvement in last years contestants that performed this year was incredible. The winner this year is a fine young lady. She is going to represent us very well. She will have an excellent career and she has many of the qualities a star needs that are difficult to teach. One mistake in a performance is not a big deal. She has other qualities that are hard to teach and she learned those with years of hard work doing pageants, singing in the ky opry at the Mac and working at lessons for so many years. She will be a great winner for the RTF. Bernard Porter and Jerry Fox are big time guys and we are lucky to have them working with our young people. Support the RTF.

I agree Logan has been able to do wonderful things and so have many others. I was a semi-finalists in this year's show and have been a huge supporter of this program. I went last night to support the friends I have made and to wish them well in the competition only to watch them be made fools of. I guess I have a different perspective than you "Seriously". I've seen the program from the inside and can tell you that there is no credibility to this competition. The compeition is over.....I'm predicting for good because no truly talented person is going to audition after last night. Although I beleive Ms. Thompson is talented, very beautiful and surely a great person; she came up short last night....way short and deserved last place. The crowd's reaction or lack thereof showed that...I am ashamed to admit I was ever a part of it and bought into the fallacy. Don't worry I won't make the same mistake twice.

Oh and I sincerely think Logan deserved to win last year. He was the best! After seeing how far it appeared to be last year, I made the decision to give it a try and up until last night, I think the community was behind it all the way including me. Our local tourism folks have worked themselves to the bone to ensure the success of this program. They should be commended. I truly believe their intentions were in the right place to help eastern kentuckians further a dream. It's a shame.....Truly the ROAD TO SHAME!

Logan is great but he would have not been doing any different had he not won last year. Porter is in this for himself. He and his organization disgraced the MAC, the audience, and the nine other finalists. The "winner" forgot the words and openly on stage, blamed the band. She was then given a second chance. AT that point many of the other contestants were saying that the judges had already made up their mind to pick her as the winner. Yet there were seven other contestabts to go. Lots of negative statements from the public on the RTF facebook page, but they are all now deleted. That shows that the whole thing was a sham!

I agree 100% this was planned even before the show began, everyone around where I was sitting was in shock. I was embrassed when Bernard make fun of one of the boys shoes that he worn as a contestant last year. He said something to the effect, I see you have some decent shoes on this year. I thought Tom T Hall had something to do with this also. I agree, they are exploiting our young people and probably making fun of us hillbillies...to be honest I wasn't that impressed with Angela Presley especially her singing! The best part of the evening other than the singers was the band, they rock especially the Whithed brothers....love Motown.!

The tourism folks did a great job, good folks from all our surrounding counties. We had friends who came hundreds of miles to see this....and to see such a failure on the judges part is disgraceful. One of the posters stated Holly has been in beauty pageants in the past. None of the other contestents got 3 songs. If this continues, they need to get new judges...these people suck!

I am not sandy. I am a person with sense. All the contestants paid 25.00 to sing in this contest. What did they get. They got to meet other great singers, compete with great singers which brings their game to a better place, they got to sing at the MAC several times and the MAC is an incredible venue. They were given opportunities to learn the music business, music business seminars, wardrobe help, feedback, a Gibson guitar and the opportunity to sing in front of 1000 people. Wow I think for 25 dollars I would beg these guys to fleece me on a weekly basis. Btw Logan hall would not be doing what he is doing today if it was not for winning the rtf last year. He has had all kinds of opportunities due to Bernard Porter and Jerry fox. Shelley young is a beautiful talent from whitesburg, she was in the finals last year and this year, her improvement is stunning in all ways. Way to go Shelley and my thoughts are that the rtf helped this to happen. Haley Sullivan has improved greatly, she is 16 and is only going to get better, Susan Scott an incredible talent is now writing and producing with talent from last year, she is amazing, Jason goble is playing gigs and working with other contestants from rtf. Other singers from last year have albums coming out like Talyn, or have won regional and national awards. Taylor Giese has an album coming out again all of this because of rtf. You all need to look at the big picture. Everyone wins in this deal, if they listen and work they will improve and realize their dream, it is already happening. Nobody is making fun of anybody and their is not any fleecing of money going on. They are lucky to break even financially. But our contestants are winning, finalist from last year, semi finalist, and last years winner are all doing what they love and they are doing it better because of the rtf. I would challenge everyone to thank rtf, and the sponsors for the opportunities listed above given to our children. Whoever wins the rtf is actually the smallest part of the contest. It is so much bigger than that. I predict great things from this rtf if it can last 5 years. Remember this most of the finalist stated at the semi finals that this was their first time on a stage of that magnitude, the biggest crowd they had sung in front, and for several it was their very first time. I call that winning, I call that success of the rtf program. Now take this experience and build on it. The rtf does not say you can not go forward since you did not win. On the contrary there are several finalist that should be putting out albums next year, singing at local venues and working on their skills. This is not the end, it is the begining and it takes hard work. There is a reason for everything. You are in charge of your destiny. Go get it.

Susan, Haley and Jason did not get better due to the RTF. They were fantastic before the RTF even started. Susan and Haley were with the Opry before the RTF and were seasoned performers before Porter tried to "mold" them into what HE wants. Many of the contestants from the past two RTF contests were already playing in various clubs and had CD's out before Porter came on to the scene. He is just looking for locals to pay him money so that he can "further" their image. Porter should not be allowed to be a judge since he owns a company that develops talent. That to me is a conflict of interest.

Seriously you expect the audience that was in attendance to believe this hog-wash. This show or lack there-of was a travesty of justice. The judges made a mockery of our young people's talent. You might make ppl believe this crap that wasn't there but not the ppl that was in attendance. Folks were really pissed off; I didn't know any of the contestants before Sat night, so I didn't have a dog in the fight. But is was very clear to me and the rest of the crowd this gal (Holly) should have come in last. Oh BTW, if you are so knowlegeble on this subject why don't you have balls to reveal your name?

I did not mean to say or relay that Sany Runyon does not have any sense. It was a quickly written mis statement. Sandy is highly gifted business woman. She is a community leader and it was not my intent to say that. My apologies if it came out that way.

I am curious to hear who people think should have won the contest.

I stand by all other comments, our area needs this contest and I hope it does not go away.

There is a big picture to this program, if we keep it people will see that, if we lose it, it will go elsewhere and it will be successful.

My understanding of this program is from the sponsors which understand the difficulty of going to Nashville not knowing anyone, the difficulty in starting and knowing where to start, the difficulty in understanding the business of the music industry, again all of these issues are being taught to the contestants.

I thank the sponsors, the local leaders, ADD, Tourism, Bernard Porter, Jerry Fox, Angelina Presley for their hard work in helping the young people of our region.

Anyone one of the others had more talent than Holly...I liked the gal from Letcher Co and the Belcher boy was really good. Like I said earlier any of them had more talent than the winner. Even the Floyd County Times talked about her being given a second try on her song. I hear this is being scrapped from being aired on KET...good choice if this is true.
