Actually, to "mom", I am a former student at May Valley Elementary. I attend the school from kindergarten until my fifth grade year, which was the highest level the taught. I as well had homework but then again it is school not a playground. That's why our country is in such a downfall because people think they can sit back their whole life and earn millions of dollars in their lifetime, you have to work for it..And when I say work for it that doesn't mean waiting until high school or college to do something about it..May Valley is a great school, the teachers were always so helpful and really do a great job with helping and teaching the children..And I am proud to say that May Valley taught me the basics of everything I know, which is simply, strive for something, anything, and you can do it, just be determined and you'll achieve anything..I'm currently attending an amazing college and will soon have a Biology degree, then after I will be attending graduate school to pursue a career in Pharmacy..Take my opinion or not, May Valley Elementary was not named the NUMBER ONE SCHOOL IN THE NATION for nothing, something had to do it and I know it wasn't the "no homework, all play"..You do not win awards for having a daycare, it's earned from the students hard work and determination and the faculty and staff's understanding and readiness to help..I back MV 100% and when I have children they will go no where but May Valley...

I'm guessing you didn't get past 5th grade with that post? Have you heard of a period or capital letters? They make your words easier to read. Before you slam another school open up spell check.

It sounds to me that the woman from WV is a little lazy in he ability to keep up with primary homework. Is it the fact you want your kids to be kids or you need a babysitter that doesn't interfere with your time???? Either way it would be best if you moved back to a place where education is not highly valued.

Lazy? By far I take care of three kids have a full time job,put dinner on the table everynight and HELP with homework all while my husband is and has been overseas for six years. I am all about my kids having a successful life,I just see no point in making a five year old do three hours of homework a day,its not like he is going to college tomorrow. And my time is all about my childern. And if it wasnt for my job sending me here trust me I would be nowhere near this place.

I call bullshit on three hours of homework for a five year old? How hard could it be that it takes that long? Get off of Topix and discuss with the teacher.

May Valley has never been named the #1 school in the nation. Get your facts straight.

honey you would be crazy taking your kids out of may valley...it is the number one school in the country....my little brother goes there, and as much as i hated school then, I really wish that may valley would have been around when i was in school....they will make your kids smart, and if you know what is best for them then you would definitely leave them there.....

Keep in mind those great teachers at may valley & duff were once students. Teachers back then didn't send home 3-4 hours of homework. Students in those days used what free time they had in school to finish what assignments they had remaining. Back in the day we called homework, school work that we hadn't finished. It certainly wasn't additional work our teachers laid off on us.

Why don't you proof read your post before you reply? It doesn't matter how fast you type if what you type is unreadable. You're in college? You can't even spell college.
