Centura Properties has made an million dollar + offer for 12.5 acres near where the Austin Chaney off ramp will be located. That's about 1/4 of a mile beyond Wingate's Football Stadium. Centura develops property for clients such as Target Stores, Walgreens, Big Lots, Radio Shack and a lot of chain restaurants. What's surprising is they are aren't trying to buy the land right at the intersection. According to the map this will be on the north side of the bypass beyond the intersection.

My wife says it's part of the old Griffin farm if you know where that is.

I do know the area but I wonder why they would want to build there. Looking at the map they would have to build a service road to get to that property. I don't think the state is planning one. It's not on the proposal. Maybe they are going to build one themselves.
It would make more sense for Centura or another developer to develop the plot on the South side of the new road. It would be expensive. I've heard Walt Perry Reality has first option on all of that property in front of the stadium but I don't know if it's true.
If I were in the development business I would try to buy the land there on 74 where the bypass begins. That way you would have both the traffic on 74 and the traffic coming from and going to the bypass. that's easily double the cars you would have just on the bypass.
