Why would they get mad at the Boll Weevil? I guess not enough beer, chains, leather, and bare breast showing. Oh well! maybe they will have some luck in Wingate. It's funny, I never noticed any of the merchandise change in the store front. I go by there everyday and it looked like the same stuff. I guess they replace what they sold with the identical stuff. Good Luck going west.

Jessie told me at the Boil Weivel they were going to be on Hwy 74 at the building where they use to sell storage buildings. And no I don't think he is mad about anything just going to downsize and be on Hey 74-However he did say Marshville is a ghost town.As all of you know the buildings around here are what they call Landlocked-to high on rent-and can't be negotiated with the owner.

It won't be just ONE building empty, there are several rented tied to that business. Will they all go?

There will be NO life on Main Street now. Just the thugs on East Union Street around the casino.

At least the motorcycle guys and gals frequented the local restaurants.

Yes I have heard about the rents in the Marshville business district. You can see why no one wants to locate here. Also isn't there a going out of business sign on the boutique at Elm and Hwy. 74?

The old Mills Home Improvement location. Great location for what he has. Wish them the best of luck. As a business owner and formerly in Marshville I have learned on thing about this area. Vewry few go east to shop. Think about it, from where you are, how may times to YOU go to a town east to shop or dine out. I bet the answer is not very often. SAD.

All but the tatoo shop for now-I think eventually it will be moved-And yes I totally agree with you the guys and gals supported the local restarants and also had newcomers coming to town on the poker runs which most of the runs are for good causes-I hate they are leaving.

Yes, the boutique does have a for sale sign in the window. I'm not too surprised...never saw any customers going and coming. Its a shame these businesses can't make it. Its very sad.

Darn! I guess I'll have to take my Vespa all the way to Wingate to get it worked on! In case you don't know, Vespa was the original Italian motorscooter. I think I have one of only 3 Vespas in Union County. There are other motorscooters but very few Vespas.

I hate to lose any business from downtown Marshvegas but I understand. We've got some landlords who won't budge from their price and it has hurt downtown. I'm sure you have noticed the building adjacent to the El Viagra painted the same way. El Viagra wants to expand but they are landlocked by building code and lease agreements. Look for them to start looking for a new home soon. They had their eye on the former Radio Shack building in front of Food Lion but that might have fallen through. They also looked at the "paved driveway" property across from East Union (pun intended)but quickly abandoned that!

Seriously, that building just east of Wingate was built by Marvin Mills who had a home improvement business. If Jessie can get it cheaper it will probably be a good move. The building is smaller than the Marshville location but it is a solidly built building AND it is located on 74 which is a big plus.

We need business moving INTO Marshvegas not out! Donald Trump built a huge casino and hotel in Atlantic City when they opened the gambling places there. Maybe we should call Donald! What has Atlantic City got that Marshvegas hasn't got?

I am sorry to hear Old Skool Kustoms is leaving Marshville. I can understand why, I recently traveled down Main Street in Oakboro and I said to myself why can't Marshville have a thriving business district like Oakboro. Not one building was for rent or vacant in Oakboro. Marshville is a ghost town compared to Oakboro!!! Oakboro has events to keep business coming.... CATCH UP MARSHVILLE... Change is GOOD!!!! Oh Yea, There goes the only excitiment Marshville has ever had..

Like Presdent Barrack Obama say CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN so Marshville need to do it. We need free medical clinic in Marshville so people doant have to pay money. That could be in one building in town. Then if we have it maybe some stores will open for the people waiting to get in.

Well, if the marshvegas citizens cannot afford to pay a doctor, its unlikely they'll have any $$$$ to spend in stores.

OK back to the subject at hand... when is Marshville going to start helping this (so called) business district beside with the Mighty BOLL WEEVIL!
We do need to call Donald Trump to help.. I just ran into a gentleman recently that had came back to Marshvegas (from up North, guess he got out) for his 50th high school reunion. He stated that the ONLY thing that has changed in town was the size of the Wagon Wheel Restaurant.
Please lets get out with the OLD and in with the NEW!!!!

Whoever said this to begin with said "not enough support".......well every time I go by there, there is activity, more than anywhere else except maybe the Wagon Wheel or Southern States.

It looks pretty well supported to me. Also at the Boll Weevil, I saw motorcycles come in and get to the store, the road was not blocked so they could not get to the store.

I sincerely hope this was just a rumor and that they stay. And I have never set foot in the place because I don't ride motorcycles, but I welcome any business to Marshville that attracts people who patronize our restaurants and other stores no matter how few stores we have.
