They are a lot of hvac people out there that put systems in everyday that are very professional, and reasonable. With that being said I know one that is sky high and will charge u a service call to show u how to work the system after they install it for u. Not calling any names but u know who u are. It is a local business in the phone book in marshville
i am probably telling what you already know but this is what you get when you live in a small town where there is a monopoly on goods and services. only one grocery store guess what, you gonna pay more but unless you go and buy in bulk at one of the wholesale clubs in matthews you will spend more on gas going to monroe or further up to get it.one hardware store same thing. it sucks!! i dont have an ax to grind with byrums. when i lived in marshville i used them for seasonal service, sure i could have gotten it done cheaper somewhere else but silly me i was trying to support local business.

We moved into this house just over a year ago. It was built in 1991. The heat pump quit during the first cool spell this fall. We didn't know who to call but saw in the Union Electric magazine that you could call them for work on heat and air conditioning units. We called them and a service tech called us and was there 20 minutes later. He was very professional and told us exactly what was wrong and how he much it would cost to fix. He had to send his helper to get a part they didn't carry on the truck. About an hour later it was fixed and we haven't had a problem since. The price was fair and I wrote a letter to Union Services about how well we were treated.

We had to replace our central heat/air gas pack, as well as the entire flex pipe system running under the house, and add additional vents - and due to remodeling, had to relocate our air return and thermostat to another room. After bids from several area companies, we chose to go with Marty Napier at Anson Mechanical in Polkton. Cheapest estimate? No - but you get what you pay for, and it was a fair price, for the Trane heat pump, the 10 year warranty, and the quality of the workmanship. We are very pleased with the job they did for us, and 2 years later, still very happy with their service after the sale. Highly and confidently reccommend them.

Tom is my neighbor. If I had know he was having problems I would have recommended Byrum Heating and Air in Marshville. They ALWAYS come when they are called. They service this old system which is well past it's life expectancy and have kept it going saving me a lot of money. I know I'm going to have to replace it but I hope to get through this winter before I have to. I'll get bids in the spring to replace it and one of the HVAC companies I will let bid on the job will be Byrum. They may not be the cheapest but I know they will do what they say and back it up. That is sometimes worth a lot more than a cheaper job.

We have come to love our 'EdenPure' heaters! We no longer have to run our furnace, nor buy expensive
fuel oil to burn at $4 gallon!

There are also other EdenPure 'knockoffs' such as the
'iheater' which displays numeric thermostat. We bought two of those for $134 each and they work as good if not better! PLUS, they are energy efficient!

I had a bad experience with Byrum's. Our AC stopped working, and several people recommended Byrum's so we called them. This was on a Thursday. They came out the next day, diagnosed the problem as a collapsed duct, and said someone would be out Saturday to replace it. So far so good. We paid (I think)$75 for the visit and diagnosis which was fine.

The guy that came out Saturday was a different guy and did not seem to have any idea what was done the day before. We told him what was going on, but he seemed confused. He crawled around under the house for quite a while before finally concluding that it was indeed a collapsed duct and told us that we needed to knock down a foundation wall to allow access to the duct which we did ourselves later that day (which turned out to be totally unnecessary). I was told that someone would come out Monday to replace the duct. This was disappointing.

Monday came and was almost over with no word so we called Byrum's to see what was going on. They said they were not coming out until Tuesday. By this point we were tired of being hot and told them to forget it and that we would get someone else to fix it. Plus, we were not happy with the man who came out Saturday and didn't have confidence that the AC would be fixed right. We called someone else and had cold air the next day.

A few weeks later we got a bill for well over $200 for service and for knocking down a wall. We knocked the wall down ourselves, and I didn't feel like this was a correct bill, so I went to Byrum's and talked to them about it and explained the whole situation. I was told that I would not be charged for the $200+ but would not receive a refund for the $75 initial visit. I felt that this was fair so I was cool with Byrum's and happy with how it was handled.

A month later, I received a letter from a collection agency for the $200+ bill out of the blue with no contact from Byrum's about the bill being unpaid. I had been told in person by the older lady at the desk that the bill was handled.

I went back up there, explained the situation again, and was told that I had to at least pay for the saturday labor hours where the guy did nothing but re-diagnose the problem and tell us to knock a hole in the wall that ended up being completely unnecessary. I paid the money and walked out, and don't plan to do business with them again.

In fairness, most people that I know had a good experience with Byrum's, which is why we called them in the first place. Things happen, but we still don't plan to call them again.

I used Helms the last time that we had a problem with our HVAC and was pleased with the pricing and service.
