I live down Landsford a good ways from the murder scene, but have to go to Marshville regularly for groceries and such. So for that reason, I suppose that mess has been on my mind. And there's one thing I can't grasp. What in the world is worth committing murder for? You've got to know they're going to catch you, and you're going to spend the rest of your life, night and day, in a florescent-lit painted cinder block institution. Probably smells like oil-based paint in there all the time. It's probably always noisy, and you're probably got to watch your back every second. I'll bet the heating/AC is never right. Probably too cold all winter, and stuffy all summer. I couldn't imagine anything more miserable, and you can never go home.
Why would anybody murder somebody? You've GOT to know this is where you'll end up. I don't think the word stupid can describe it. They need to bring back the death penalty. The whole crime seems totally pointless. Nothing is worth killing over, for one. And for 2, sheriffs, deputies, and policemen aren't stupid. They're professionals at their job, just like I'm knowledgeable and capable with mine. Sooner or later, probably sooner, they'll catch the murderer. Police aren't stupid. I'm surprised they haven't already.

Well, I did go to the grocery store this evening, and still lots of cars and news trucks parked up there. I had never noticed that particular area much. I like the farms further out Landsford best. Close in to Marshville, I haven't got much to say about the scenery.
Anyway, I've figured the smartest thing the murder could do is to go on back down there and find some officer of some kind, and turn yourself in. Police people are generally pretty nice. Even a crook can make enough of a friend of one to where you might be on your own bunk in the general population that night. If you make them come after you, you'll probably get tossed in the tanks down in admitting and shuffled around for days. And the noise of all the crying and yelling newcomers is undoubtedly awful.Probably smells like vomit, chlorine, and enamel paint in those holding rooms. What you want is to show co-operation. Don't get yourself on the bad side of the police. Most of them will cut you a break whenever they can, if you get on their better side.
I can't imagine shooting or knifing 3 people, whichever it was. That was dumb.

I don't the police will find the murderer. Pretty pathetic that they cannot reassure the community that we're safe or not. Very disappointed in the Union County police. I expected more from them.

I think that you are a little quick in your rush to judgment. I was actually very pleased that the sheriff called in SBI and that painstaking efforts were taken to be as thorough as possible. Please remember those crime shows on TV don't reflect real life. The forensic testing doesn't go nearly as quickly in real life. You also have to remember that they have to be extremely careful in their approach with collecting evidence and putting it together and before they take it to the DA. You don't ever want any evidence thrown out because of a technicality.

There's a strong possibility that they may know who did it, but there has to be enough solid evidence to move forward. I think they've been very professional and have been very guarded with disseminating information. Just be patient, I think they'll get whoever did this.

Amazing. I've seen that Morrison kid a million times up in Marshville. About the only place I go is the grocery store, so I suppose it was there. Funny how you can see somebody around for years and have no clue they're Jack the Ripper. They really need to bring back the death penalty and use it regularly.

It is scary to know that people can exist anywhere that are capable of these things. Sad and senseless.

Criminals usually share this opinion. They hate that law enforcement have the ability to out smart their criminal activities.

Hey Pondering, definitely no disrespect here, but North Carolina does have the death penalty. It was reinstituted in 1977. You may have been thinking that NC doesn't have it because its an ongoing debate in several states.

It will be interesting to see if the DA will go that route or not.
