To run for Mayor you have to file at city hall. The last day in Jan. 15, so you better hurry.

FORDLAND

Board of aldermen seats currently held by Donald Burks and Vic Masters will be up for election in April, as will the mayorÂ’s spot, currently occupied by Paul Farnsworth.

Farnsworth and Virgil Keeton have filed for mayor, and Masters and Burks have filed for the seats they currently occupy.

The school board positions of Robert Brooks and David Cass are up in April. Thus far, Brooks and Cass have filed for the spots.

Now is when we can make a change!

I think you will see Farnsworth, win the election, but the only problem I have is why they haven't hired in a full time police chief yet. They need to realize that the citizens of fordland, need more protection and someone needs to be around the schools more a nd having a police chief there all the time will help. But until they do that, I think it will be hard for him to win Mayor again.

If he wins we will all know our elections are rigged. All the polls say we want him out! If he stays we will finally have proof he is the crook we all believe he is.

We need a leader who wants to see our community improved.

Not someone who does nothing for our city.

Have you ever seen it so bad here? Our streets are crumbling apart, our police force doesn't exist, the fire department is a mess and our water/sewer utilities need updating.

He pays a sex offender instead of an honest citizen to work at city hall? Birds of a feather?

We live here, we play here, love and pray here.

Let us start standing up for what is truly ours!

Y'all talk about not having any police officers, if you need one you should just go out on the highway. That's where they are. Sounds like they need to leave the highway to the highway patrol and start protecting their city.

I know there was talk some time back about hiring a full time police chief, but that has never happen. My mother was at the city meeting last Tuesday and told me something that I have never heard her say before and now I am trying to figure out who she was talking about. I agree, I own property in fordland and know the city is doing nothing to improve with Farnsworth as Mayor, so yes they need a new mayor. But maybe someone can answer are question for my mother. She stated there was a young man there talking to the city about fixing the police department taser. She told me that the young man was very smart and know what he was talking about. She also stated that he told them he was a police officer in another city somewhere. Can anyone that was there tell me who he was maybe and why the city doesn't go after him. I just want to know, because I want to write a letter on my families behalf to his boss now about how professional he was and nice to everyone that talked to him.

Wondering,
the man you speak of is the Interim Chief of Police, James Cervi. I know for a fact that Chief Cervi has over ten years experience as a police officer, works as a detective in another town, and had been an officer with the City of Fordland several years previously.
he can't come on as the full time Police Chief because they can't afford to pay him.
Chief Cervi gets a stipend for his cell phone usage and nothing more. he works for no pay as a favor to the city because they can not afford to pay a police chief. this is a fact well known in the community.
Fordland won't get a police chief because they can barely pay for the police officers they have.
the officers they do have sit on the highway and get speeders because that is the only money the city can get to pay their cops.
don't speed through Fordland long enough and the cops will go away.

Things will change. The city has hit rock bottom and the only way to go is up.

Of course he has till Tuesday when the new mayor is sworn in. I bet Paul will try to screw up as much as he can before he needs to leave office. He'll leave an even bigger mess for Virgil to clean up

they had to lay one of the police officers off because they don't have the money to pay for police.
the one they kept does nothing but sit on the highway and get money for the city by writing tickets.
I don't know that the new mayor can fix the mess the was left.

The new mayor took office last Tuesday night. It may take a while to get the city back in order. The budget is in shambles. That alone is gonna take time to straighten out. Till then expect the police to be writing more tickets. Pray that nothing else happens in Fordland from what I understand the guy they have now is worthless for doing anything else other than writing tickets. A word of advice in Fordland KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

What do you mean "KNOW YOUR RIGHTS"? Do you mean about being pulled over? Explain please.

Doesn't matter. I've heard that he preys on those who don't have a basic knowledge of law and likes to throw his weight around.
