Which diesel shop should I go to?

I see diesel performance has moved over by perkins diesel. Have they teamed up or something? I have a diesel pickup I am needing some work done on and I will not take it to the dealership and I have already been taken by every other shop in town. Does anyone know much about either of the diesel shops?
I have heard diesel performance can be slow at times but do great work and is cheapest around. They always seem to have a lot of trucks lined up to work on which is a good thing in my opinion. I have talked to them a couple times on phone and they always seem like they can rattle off a lot of technical stuff about my truck which makes me think they must know what they are doing.
From what I understand perkins is mainly a semi truck shop but does work on pickups. I have heard they do good work but have a repeat comebacks for same issues and are not as good on pickup diagnosing and work as they are semi trucks. I see their lot is almost empty most the time which makes me kind of wonder if there is a bad reason behind that. I have called a couple times and asked questions about my truck and they do not seem near as knowledgeable as the other shop.
So who here has some good knowledge about these shops? I am pretty sure I have my mind made up already but I am very picky with my truck and like to research as much as possible before I decide.
Slow and good I can deal with. Quick and repeat visits for same issue is not something I want to deal with.
Just looking for some help please.

I am Darrell the owner of Diesel Performance Plus and I was pointed to this post by one of our Customers. So I figure I will address some of your questions.
We are NOT affiliated with Perkins Diesel at all. They are a semi truck shop. They do work on pickups but from what they told me when they first moved to town they would rather stick to the big trucks but they take care of their big truck customer pickups.
I can not speak for Perkins speed or quality. All I can speak for is Diesel Performance Plus.
My guys may not have 20, or 30 or 40 years experience but they are VERY VERY thorough. They get paid by the job and I have pounded in to their heads that if they mess up and have a come back they fix it for free and it will be top priority and even if they have to work after hours to do it then that is what they will have to do.
I am VERY big on quality work and good Customer Service. I am constantly walking out a overlooking the work being done in the shop just so I feel comfortable with everything that is being done.
I know 30+ year certified mechanics that I will stack my guys up against any day when it comes to quality and thoroughness.
And yes, we may be slower than other places at times but that is because we are so thorough and take our time.
Would you rather have us take a little longer and have it done right the first time or would you rather us do a quick job and take a chance on having to bring it back a time or two because something was missed?
In my 8+ years in business and thousands of trucks I can count the number of comebacks on both hands.
And as far as being the cheapest around, I try to keep all my prices as low as possible to help our Customers save money. However I ONLY deal with what I feel is the best parts and I know I am barely getting by some times and can not get any cheaper. So if you find cheaper than us then I would be VERY worried about what you are getting.
I know your post is over a month old and I am sure you have already made your decision by now and we may have worked on your truck. But I wanted to address your concerns. No matter what your decision was I hope it resulted in a good experience.
Take Care and GOD Bless..........

Diesel Performance Plus is the best place in town. Our Ford diesel was giving us problems, and we couldn't figure out the issue. We took it to 2 businesses in town; they would hook it up to the computer and tell us nothing was wrong. They wouldn't listen and the other businesses, frankly, didn't care.
The truck was still giving us problems, so we pulled into Diesel Performance Plus. A young man (I believe his name was Ryan.)came out and fixed our truck within 15 minutes. He actually took time and looked under the hood for a solution. It was something simple and an easy fix. We were so thankful!
Great people work at this shop, and I highly recommend Diesel Performance Plus.

Thank You Customer...
This is why we have such a good reputation for being one the best Power Stroke shops in the area. There are a lot of shops that can work on them but they don't know them like we do and a lot get misdiagnosed. I have forgot more about Power Strokes then a lot of shops in this area will ever know. But that is what I concentrated on when I started DPP over 8 years ago.
Like I said before, we may not be as fast as some of the other shops but we get the job done right the first time and we don't just guess and throw parts at them.
If you need anything else give us a shout.
Take Care and GOD Bless...

I started using diesel performance when they first came to town a few years and i will not let anyone else touch my trucks. They are good at what they do and i do not have to worry about a big bill or any issues when i take my truck to them. I have a few friends that use perkins and i do not see how anyone can say they are faster. From what I have seen they do not seem to stay as busy and can possibly get stuff in quicker but saying they are faster i know is not the case because I have friends that use them.

Took my Dodge diesel in May 2015 to Diesel Performance Plus to get a new injection pump put in. After numerous calls, finally got my truck back in mid August.. Pulled a trailer to Texas and the truck began to run rough. I took it into a shop here in TX and found out the new injection pump was bad.. Long story short, I couldn't get any backing from Diesel Performance Plus. I gave up calling Diesel Performance Plus.. Diesel shop in Tx removed bad pump and had it rebuilt.. The Bosch pump person in TX confirmed that Diesel Performance Plus hadn't installed it correctly.. Their incorrect install caused the pump to go bad.. $2,500 to Diesel Performance Plus for nothing.. I had to pay another $2,700 here in TX to get my truck fixed correctly.. I have asked Diesel Performance Plus to refund me the $2,500. I'm out a lot of money and months of time, due to Diesel Performance Plus' business practices. They haven't done anything and ignore my calls.. I am warning anyone that will listen to beware of this business.. I don't want anyone else to have this happen to them..

I used to work for DPP and I have seen the owner Darrell bend over backwards so far for customers that I am surprised his back is not broke. He always goes above and beyond to make things right if one of his guys screw up. I have a feeling there is more to this story then you are telling because he would not just ignore you like you are saying. I think I will stop in and talk to him tomorrow and see what he has to say. But it sounds to me more like you got screwed by the shop in Texas.
