Did anyone hear Bush yesterday promise the mexican president that he would ease up on our immigration laws? Does he have the power and authority to block our laws from being enforced. Does this have some connection with all those US attornies getting fired? hmmmm

Mexican and Canadian trucks have been hauling freight in U.S. for several years. They were to haul in from Mexico and pick up a lod [or not] and go back home. But they are not. They are hauling more and more freight right here in our country. American trucking companies are suffering with no freight now. When the border is opened U.S. trucking companies will be a thing of the past. As far as U.S. companies going to Mexico, as of yesterday no U.S. company has applied to enter Mexico. There is not that many U.S trucking companies going into Canada Too much of a risk. If you drove over the road like my husband does you would see there is so many Mexican and Canadian trucks here in the states now. Economists have always said "You can tell how the economy is doing by how many trucks are on the road" Well what does it tell you when they are Mexican and Canadian? Tell me how and why all the gas stations are being bought by people from other countries.

Mexican Trucks Coming
02/26/07 8:31 AM
WASHINGTON -- The news that Mexican trucks will be allowed to haul freight deeper into the United States drew an angry reaction Friday from labor leaders, safety advocates and members of Congress.
They said Mexico has substandard trucks and low-paid drivers that will threaten national security, cost thousands of jobs and endanger motorists on the northern side of the Mexican border.
The Bush administration on Thursday announced its plan to have U.S. inspectors oversee Mexican trucking companies that carry cargo across the border.
“This program will make trade with Mexico easier and keep our roads safe at the same time,” Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said Friday. She announced details of the plan to let 100 Mexican trucking companies travel beyond the border area while she was in El Paso, Texas, at the Bridge of the Americas, which connects to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
Said Teamsters President Jim Hoffa:“They are playing a game of Russian roulette on America's highways.”
Access to all U.S. highways was promised by 2000 under the 1993 North American Free Trade Agreement, as was access through Mexico for U.S. carriers.
That aspect of NAFTA was stalled by lawsuits and disagreements between the two countries, though Canadian and U.S. trucks travel freely across the northern border. No Mexican Trucks were alowed.
The Bush pilot project will let Mexican truck companies travel from Mexico throughout the United States and back. No hazardous material shipments will be permitted.
According to the Transportation Department, U.S. inspectors will inspect every truck and interview drivers to make sure they can read and speak English. They'll examine trucks and check the licenses, insurance and driving records of the Mexican drivers. Inspectors will also verify that the trucking companies are insured by U.S.-licensed firms.
The first Mexican trucks are expected to drive into the United States beyond the border area in about 60 days, the Transportation Department says.
2/26/ 07+ 60 days about April 26th.
You count the days and do a Google check your self.

Senator launches ‘inquiry’
The day after the AHAS lawsuit was filed, U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, D-AR, sent a letter to Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters that, according to a press release issued by his office, will start an “inquiry” into the program. And, he wants information updates on directives facing the DOT.
Pryor’s frustration with the way the program has been handled was clearly stated in his letter to Peters.
“As you may recall, during your confirmation hearing ... I expressed my interest and concern about a rumored pilot program that would allow Mexican domiciled trucks to operate beyond their current scope of authority,” Pryor wrote in his letter.
“During my questioning, you clearly stated that you questioned staff at DOT about the pilot program and were told that there was no immediate plan to implement such a program. You also stated that you would get down to the bottom of the ‘so-called’ rumors surrounding the issue.”
Pryor reminded Peters that he concluded his questioning in her confirmation hearing by stating that he would appreciate having a dialogue with the DOT and other agencies that “may be” developing this program.(continuation

I hate to be the one to tell you, but crossing the border illegal is not a misdemeanor. It is a Federal Felony. They are called criminals because that is what they became when they committed the felony. good ole Bush is trying to change things.
Open your eyes and ears. Truckers I know are all fighting this from starting. You need to wake up and read some. Just cause you see a Mexican driving doesn't say they are in a Mexico Truck past 25 Miles from border picking up the loads Our truckers can't take to Mexico!!!!

Interesting for truck drivers.
Truck Out" points:
1. Bush is planning, in less than 45 days, to allow 17,000 or more Mexican trucks and truckers into our country with no checks and balances in place. Rigs will be allowed in with no weight regulations, no load restrictions (as their loads will not be under the same security scrutiny that our truckers’ loads have to comply to, which opens the door to more drugs, terrorists, weapons and human smuggling), some with no insurance in place, some truckers with no drivers licenses and criminal driving records, no background checks, and trucks that are not regulated to adhere to our strict safety regulations.
2. Once again the illegals will be given special treatment by our government, above that of our legal American citizens and legal immigrants, which allows them to break laws in our country that our truckers cannot get away with or their licenses would be pulled, their trucks impounded, and potentially criminally charged.
3. These truckers can haul for far less per load than our own truckers and will take their jobs. This is not a threat; it has been in the planning stages for several years now. American truckers will lose their jobs.
4. This constitutes a complete breakdown of the current trucking laws and regulations that govern our teamster truckers and Independent trucking organizations. This will work to destroy the truckers livelihoods and futures, as for many, this is all they have ever done.
5. We cannot allow this to happen, not even to test it. NAFTA is a failed international policy that has backfired on the U.S., and is driving our country into total ruin.
6. We invite our truckers to participate in a national "Truck Out" Boycott, on the 23-25 of April, to coincide with the www.FairUS.org rally planned in Washington DC, the “Put Their Feet to the Fire Press Conference Rally.”
7. The point is to shut all trucking down and surround every capital in every state with a convoy of trucks, cars and motorcycles to protest the corrupt plans our government has to destroy our trucking industry, and our nation. This will, in turn, shut all industry dependent on the truckers down, as many of these industries employee illegals. This will show our government that we do have power and will exercise it, and will not tolerate their refusal to do the will of the legal American citizens and immigrants in this country. We are demanding NO amnesty for illegal aliens, an end to the socialist/fascist corruption in our government by our elected officials who refuse to uphold our laws, our Constitution, their oaths of office, and the people who voted them into office. We are their bosses and it's time for them to stop ignoring us, blatantly breaking our laws, and twisting the truth to suit their own nefarious agendas.

To stop illegal aliens in your community, you may follow the course of action by Mayor Louis Barletta of Hazelton, PA. He offers a bomb proof ordinance that takes business licenses away from those who hire illegals. He legally halts landlords from renting to illegals. Without work and without housing, illegals cannot stay in your community. Check out his web site for instructions: SmallTownDefenders.com

Bad TxDOT Deal Exposed - FREEway Sold For Peanuts!
Just days ago TxDOT sold a Dallas state highway (SH 121 - intended to be a freeway) to Cintra for 50 years. Most sane people knew selling a public highway to a spanish company was a bad deal, but who would have thought it would be exposed to be an outrageous financial screw up so quickly?

As one of the 25 co-authors of SB 1267, please know how much I appreciate your support of the proposed two-year moratorium on toll road contracts with private companies.
Transportation is one of, if not the, highest priority issue in our community. However, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is moving way too fast on the Trans Texas Corridor and at least five other private toll contracts proposed for our region, including SH 121, SH 170, the DFW Connector (formerly known as the Funnel), the North Tarrant Express (Airport Freeway/Northeast Loop 820/Interstate 35W), and Southwest Parkway.
I believe the public will accept a limited amount of tolling as a last resort option for specific projects that would otherwise be unfunded. However, the DFW Connector has been allocated more than $760 million in highway dollars. SH 170 was recently expanded. Many of us question whether funding alternatives have been fully explored.
Additionally, I strongly object to terms of the contract with Cintra, a Spanish company selected to develop SH 121. It requires the state to pay concession fees for building competing roads within a 20-mile radius, allows Cintra to raise rates by 30 percent for six hours every day during peak traffic time, and fails to specify buyback terms, which many believe would cost our grandchildren more money than we are receiving up front.
We should not allow our major highways to become profit centers for a foreign company. I am glad you agree that we need to slow down and fully vet these private toll contracts.
Very truly yours,
Senator Jane Nelson
