Full story: El Paso Times

I often get e-mails from friends, both liberal and conservative, about the selling of America, and who is to blame.

In a society of Botox, tummy tucks, over eating for pleasure, short term profits, over extended credit, over use of natural resources, illegal drugs for pleasure, single parent teenagers having babies, over paid government administrators, Huge vehicles with one driver, stealing from the work place and the public - America needs a good spanking.
We recently almost got one with this economic downturn, but again our leaders chose for our country to go further in debt rather than have current day Americans pay the price for the selfish bill they run up.
Robert Ward is right and we all should look in the mirror when trying to find someone to blame for interrupting our selfish pleasures. Unfortunately it is much easier to blame somebody/something else. Many of the folks today come from the "Me First" generation and are still demanding "Me First".

Some people are hurting to with 10% unemployment and massive foreclosures of homes. Unfortunately, those that have done the most harm are the ones benefiting - and they don't care.

There are more wealthy people in America today than ever before - then there are more people in poverty than ever before. The last ten years has given all of Americas wealth to the few with huge tax breaks and giveaways to the wealthy.

Now only those on the lower rung of society suffer.

And that lower rung is getting pretty crowded. Obama had better make some serious commitments to saving the shrinking middle class in his speech tonight. It is funny when conservatives blast Dems for wanting to redistribute wealth, when that is exactly what the policies of Reagan and Bush II (Clinton isn't innocent either) have done, redistribute wealth to the wealthiest to levels never before seen in U.S. history.
Check out the top bracket tax rate through history at this link. http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php...
Even returning the top bracket rate to the first 4 Reagan years would be a step in the right direction.
It is time to force a little "trickle-down". Paying taxes can be considered a form of patriotism (funding the nation) and it is time for the rich to get really patriotic.

Some people don't understand economics. Spending our way out of a recession and depression, is a necessary evil, most people mistakenly believe the opposite to be true!
Not spending, is the worst thing our government can do to stave off unemployment from worsening, and to keep our economy from completely collapsing! Government needs to spend to spur job growth.
Ask any economist and they'll tell you what I say is true!
Former US economist and current economy professor at UC Berkley, Robert Reich, is correct in his assertion that, "we need to spend our way out of this economic mess", "cutting government spending during these economic turbulent times is the worst thing to do"?

President Obama has been a total disappointment! He has failed to live live up to the change everyone that voted for him was expecting!
That being said, he's not entirely to blame for not bringing about the hope and change we wanted. His detractors and the obstructionists have made sure he failed! They told us as much since he was elected. They wanted him to fail simply because he scared them! The entrenched special interests and the big money lobbyists weren't about to relinquish their stranglehold on their power!
Witness the unprecedented money spent on lobbying to stop every single measure he's proposed to help our country get out of the worst unemployment and economic disaster since the great depression!
The obstructionista have gotten their way!
He's to blame for not having the cajones to stand up to these naysayers and be more forceful! If the obstructionists don't want to help our country, then he should just tell them to get the hell out of the way and proceed without them!

No were not all to blame , The W and his croonies that fleeced america for 8 years are to blame...Lets get that straight right now...Why is it only the Ripofflicans are saying we are all to blame? huh... Not buying it.
Maybe we will have an election soon. We can get rid of that evil W. Afterall - Hussein has only been in office a year and has screwed up evrything he has tried - lie after lie - accepts no responsibility for anything - but keeps saying that he is doing a wonderful job and things are better.

Liberals like you even blame W for the outcome of the election in Massachusetts. Goes to show how STUPID you and your liberal buddies really are. B.Hussein O. is a total joke!!

Blame game 2010 is on! I believe the first post had quite valid points. And here you are posting your need (and the needs of all those who expect miracles) for another American quality: immediate gratification. Miracles are truths in fairy tales, not the real world. Those who expect(ed) the worst recession in decades to be over in the span of 1 1/2 years are living in fairy tale land. Hmmm, that appears to be about 75% of Americans right now. How did Carlos Mencia put it? Dee de dee.

WE ARE OUR WORSE ENEMY!

Corruption is rampant within all the governmental agencies. It’s been this way all the time. People have become complacent and just want to live their lives without complications. All American’s are contributors to the corruption of the system, without realizing it. Our tax dollars is what encourages the manipulation and the corruption of “OUR-SELVES”.

The government through out time has created situations that have encouraged the expansion of certain agencies. Such as Police, Courts, Homeland Security, Prisons, Welfare Departments, etc. Excessive taxation comes at a time in order to further promote control over American’s, in which the common excuse that is accepted is; “For the betterment of our country”, philosophy. Thus; promoting distrust among the average citizen in this country, against each other. In all cases the use of our tax dollars are used to create the “Betterment of our country”, but by using these same techniques taxation has proven over the span of time, to be of no objective good for the overall general society. The same old socialistic problems still exist. Crime is up, children in public education are not getting properly educated, more people on welfare, etc.

“Taxation without Representation”, is the result of the,“For the betterment of our country”, philosophy. With all the money that is being used, wonder why none of these programs seem to work. They are designed not to work. For if any of the government, parasite entities worked out the problems of society; the problems would no longer exist, thus; there would be no need for any use of the billions of tax dollars that are used to incorporate these programs. It is all a scam, based on the philosophy,“For the Betterment of Our Country”.

People are brainwashed to believing that these programs are actually working for the betterment of sociality, when in fact the average American is a victim of systematic brainwashing that has been taught within the school system from an early age. The public school system which is another government sponsored program. Some of the teaching techniques consist of limitations of making one believe that there is no corruption within the system, added with the true American values theme (honesty & integrity).

As we can see, it’s all a scam. All Americans are forced to partake into their own self-destruction. For every American that has went to public school, got a job, bought a home, contributed to a saving account, is a contributor, to the destruction of society, in one or more of these ways. All bought with our tax dollars.

Are not ALL American’s the government, so why are we being GOVERNED??. Even the slightest tax, has had serious repercussions.

As we fall into the bombardment, of frenzy, from the overt system, we systematically are our own enemies. Yet, we complain, about the over taxation installed by our government. But; somehow we continue to contribute to the system. Are we stuck somewhere within our minds not to overcome, and develop a “Better Way?” Maybe we are getting what we pay for! By knowing that the system is not working, and not trying to develop a change to make it work,

“WE ARE OUR OWN WORSE ENEMY”!

Were you referring to ME?

I guess; you for some reason you don't believe that you too, even in this day and age are a partaker in keeping the YT system going.

Yes!
"WE" as in: Me, You and Everyone else that lives in the United States of America. "We" all are contributors to the system (you claim to hate) just as much as anyone else.

Everything "we" buy, even Internet Service, has us enslaved to the YT system.

Yet; "WE" continue the enslavement, by continuing to be a contributor, by giving them money every month.
