Maybe they could put up rumble strips before the stop sign and flashing lights warning of a stop sing ahead??
Maybe drivers just need to just watch what they are doing and slow down.

First let me say that I am so sorry for the family lost. No family should have to go through that. I know how it feels to loss a child and that is the hardest thing for anyone to go through. I was just wondering, yes I know I will get a lot of people mad with this question, Does anyone know if this DeVos is from the DeVos family in Grand Rapids?

None of the news stations have reported him as being related to the DeVos family from Grand Rapids, I am sure if he was the media would have been all over this, so I doubt he was related.

Carol,

I know a Paul DeVos from Marne, although I don't think this is the same one I know, but the Paul that I know is not related to the DeVos' from GR. The Paul that I know doesn't drive a truck like that, and would be a little bit older, and grew up in the area.

Come on tv 13 and Sheriff's dept.. Whats wrong with you? A child is killed, people are injured. And your headline/ interest is pooldamage??
My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to the families involved.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this family in this tragic time.

I noticed the new report says that the driver that caused the accident said "I am not familiar with the area." I don't care if you're familiar with the area or not...pay attention when you're behind the wheel of a vehicle. A big red stop sign, means S T O P!!!! for God's sake...open your eyes.

How can he be from Marne and not know the area? The accident happened in Marne!
The bottom line here is that the stop sign was there and even my 8 year old knows what that means.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.

Both families are in my thoughts and prayers. The loss of a child is devastating. But, the guilt of causing the loss is overwhelming. I can't imagine the pain the Worpel's family is going through. Such a terrible event, but accidents do happen. The news has been a little brutal towards the driver of the truck though. He wasn't drunk or commiting some sort of terrible crime, but yet he could be charged for one. I've heard of Paul through friends and he sounds like a good Christian guy. Unfortunately, he was on the way to a church meeting and took an unfamilar road and it turned into a tragedy. Too often these things happen and it begins to feel like there is nothing we can do about it! God has a plan for everyone, as hard and terrible things are we need to remember he knew it was going to happen.

He should be charged. It doesn't matter if he was familar with the area or not! If there is a stop sign you stop.

I have been driving for a zillion years and billions of miles. Guess what!!! I make mistakes all the time. Most accidents happen closer to your own home than anywhere else. I pray for all involved.

I would hate to be the judge that gets this case if they prosecute the driver. He sounds like a decent guy who made a terrible mistake, but having said that, there has to be some sort of punishment for taking that innocent life. I pray for the judge to have wisdom and the families involved to find peace.
