You now it would be nice if for one week T.V. 13 would dedicate it's news only to good news. There are many stories of people helping people, business's helping people, animal story's, hell I'm even for putting Dick back into the BOZO costume once again. WHY NOT! Isn't everybody really getting sick of hearing about these tradegy's day after day? I am very sorry for the families in this case but I even think they would rather be left alone than being dogged by a reporter during this trying time of their lives. Come on G.M. T.V. 13 give us a break!

I have been on about nine of these fatality calls in the news this summer. If I can say one thing it is SLOW DOWN and PLEASE pay attention. People may not realize but responding to these crashes and seeing the trauma takes a huge emotional toll on us responders; police, fire and EMS. My heart goes out to the family, my prayers are with you. To everybody else, PLEASE lets pay attention to our driving and stop the horrible crashes we have had thus far.

There have been so many accidents on this corner. How many more before the county puts up a four way stop or a light? My prayers go out to the family.

A 4 way stop isn't going to help if people run the regular stop sign already.

Maybe they could put up rumble strips before the stop sign and flashing lights warning of a stop sing ahead??

This summer, beginning to end, and now beginning of fall season, way to much tragedy!! My heart breaks for the victims, because their lives end so soon, for their families, for everyone!! Every time I read of a child dying, it crushes me, I have 2 young boys, and it's in the front of my mind daily that each day I get into our van to take them some where, to school, because we commute from Cedar Springs to a Charter School, that today could be our last, I use every precaution possible, speed limit, in construction zones, we have a "NO TALKING" rule in the car, because I want to pay close attention to the road, other drivers and the workers who are working on the road. But when I see people driving 10-20 over the speed limit just flooring it to pass you, or those that are in the other lane, passing the other cars coming head on at you, they are the people that cause these senseless accidents. Taking their lives along with the other victims, or they survive, leaving another family devastated. It's happening way to much!!
I worry about my and my childrens safety as well as my husbands since he commutes from Cedar to Burton/Kalamazoo in this construction.

RIP Sweet Child. I'm so sorry for your loss to the family. A parents worst devastating nighmare!((((HUGS))))

I am so sorry for this family, I can't imagine what it must feel like for something like this to happen.

I feel bad for the guy driving the truck to, but I have to ask, the reports are saying he wasn't familar with the area, but it also states he lives in Marne, where the accident happen. That doesn't make much sense to me.

My thoughts and prayers are with both families involved.

When will some names be released? We would have liked to speak to our children before they left for school today if we knew who it was.

The names have been released below is the article from Mlive.com

WRIGHT TOWNSHIP -- A 10-year-old Coopersville girl was killed Monday night when a driver of a pickup ran a stop sign and slammed into the vehicle she was a passenger in at 16th Avenue and Arthur Street, police said.

Daryn Renee Worpel died on impact and her mother, Kimberlee Erickson-Worpel, her sister, Jolie Worpel, 3, and brother, Colin Worpel, 6, were hurt in the 6:50 p.m. crash. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Ottawa County sheriff's Sgt. Steve Austin said.

Erickson-Worpel could not avoid a truck driven by Paul DeVos, 21, of Marne.

DeVos was driving west on Arthur when his truck hit Erickson-Worpel's northbound minivan.

I personally think speed yes but also cell phones are a huge factor in all the accidents happening. I have never had so many close calls as the past few years avoiding other people on thoss stupid cell phones. There is a time and place for those or hands free. I feel that our younger drivers are brought up on cell phones and to them it's normal. There is so much to be aware of on the roads and learn before you try adding other stuff. If need mine I use a parking lot or pull over why don't this get enforced. Cell phones kill so does speeding and drinking. The fact that this guy from Marne was not familiar with the area. That is hard to believe Marne is very small. Our thoughts and prayers go to this family who has lst a love one.

I don't beleive that the only problem is cell phones, but I do beleive they should not be used while on the road even hands free, if you are having a conversation with someone hands free or not you are distracted already from what is going on in front of you.

Bottom line I think there are just to many distractions for young and old and all in between alike. Cd's, computers, DVD Players, people reading a book or the newpapers, women putting on makeup and men shaving just to name a few.

When you are driving that should be your top priority nothing else, if you don't like the CD that's playing wait til you get to a stop light to change it, get up early enough at home to shave and put your make up on before you leave. Plan and simple people of all ages need to focus on their driving, everytime you get behind the wheel you are taking yours and others lives in your hands and most accident can be prevented if people would only pay attention.
