Coburn got involved because they are big buddies and fellow right wing religious wackos. They live together in some house owned by an evangelical religious group. There was a fellow on MSNBC last night saying that guys like Ensign and Vitter don't resign the way Spitzer did because they truly believe they are chosen by god to lead despite their worldly faults. It was scary stuff, the group behind this philosophy is identified in this article as the one that owns the house these wack jobs live in.

What is even scarier is that I understand that Vitter and Ensign both got standing ovations from the GOP caucus when they returned to D.C. after they were exposed. Vitter did not of course because he was accused of homosexual behavior, apparently that is unforgiveable.

It will be fun to watch this guy twist in the wind. His old man is worth millions. The lover and her husband are going to file a lawsuit and start taking depositions, it does not get any better.

I would consider myself a Republican more than a Democrat, but I definitely am a conservative, and I can tell you that this sort of thing isn't ok with me. People like this hold the public trust. It's the same with the gov. of Carolina; that boy needs to go. Clinton needed to go.
Being a conservative doesn't make me stupid enough to blindly follow anyone because they pin a Rep. button on their lapel.

Hey, one quick question though, have they established the paternity of John Edwards mistress yet? Or figured out just how much he paid her to keep her mouth shut? After all she too was a member of his staff and/or entourage.

John Edwards is not in the Senate. Lets hear you demand the resignation in disgrace of Ensign and Vitter. I am not sure that Coburn should not go too based on some of the ridiculous statements he made yesterday. He is saying that he will never speak about his conversations with Ensign, even to Senate investigators, because it is protected by doctor/patient privilege. He is an ob/gyn guy so I wonder what kind of treatment he was giving Ensign.

I have said that he should resign. I said that when the affair first came to light.

And you're right Edwards isn't a senator anymore. But if I remember correctly he was when the affair started. And the woman he was sharing his sausage with was pregnant while he was running his presidential campaign. So ummm...where is your faux outrage over that?

This story is getting stranger by the minute. The husband of the assumed mistress was interviewed (snipets on CNN) and his answers to questions seemed slightly evasive. For some reason his wife and he were living at Ensign's house? Ensign's parents say they gave the money to help this guy out as he was not working. And he hinted (the husband) at an accusation that somehow Ensign destroyed his career but gave no further explanation. Just what is going on?
