this has happen alot it also happened to my husband with a company out of lansing called "Sweet Melissa Trucking" but the only difference is they had nice chicken haulers trucks(california sytle rigs with the chrome) offered him .36 per mile and after 1 month .40 all the miles he wanted. so he took it i know part of tnis is my fault because i knew something was wrong the first day when i told the owner about taking a copy of his DL and SS. Needless to say he left for 3wks came home drop the truck to the owner to get a tune up and till this day NO MONEY or MY HUSBANDS BELONGINGS. Now when this driver says he might lose everything i totally understand i was laid off at a trucking company (TLC) as a Recruiter and was on unemployment (which is a joke) and now we had no money for a month and a half.....that was hard...so i feel for these truck drivers. Times are hard and these day you cant trust NO BODY. Thank god MC VANKAMPEN gave my husband a job....:)

Tim, I'm very sorry to hear about your terrible situation! I work for a trucking company and I can't beleive that someone could take advantage of people like that!!! It's just unimaginable!!!

If you or any of your friends are interrested in a job, please feel free to call our recruiting department @ 800-688-4123 ext 229 and mention my name. They'll treat you good and we could possibly get you started as soon as next week. We're a well established company which is based out of Grand Rapids.

I wish you, and all involved, the very best of luck with all of this! God bless!!!

Another sure deal that went "South" Greed sometimes raises its uglyhead and bites people squarely where they sit. Lesson learned, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. Check everything with a microscope to make sure the "Ducks are in Line" at the first turn down a deadend street, run. My sympathy to those people that got burned, but once again adults making decisions without the true facts.

Hmmmmm. Sounds like a I-D-10-T scam to me.
Seriously, if she was a perspective employer, she has alot of personal info on these men. I hope they keep a check on their credit reports. I wouldnt doubt she sells their info.
If they filled out emplyment records, she has their SS#, DL# and other personal info. I wonder if she required copies of the DL & SS card, and possibly birth certificate?
I am assuming these people all have commercial licences to drive trucks. This could even be more sinister than just a scammer opening accounts with someone else's info. If she has copies of their (CDLs?) this might even be a case for Homeland security to check out. Or, maybe I am too paranoid. At any rate, I am sorry for the people who have been scammed. Everyone needs to remember that we are all vulnerable when we are looking for a job and have to hand over all our personal info. Even a legitimate company could have one person working in Personnel who is dishonest and desperate for money. A lot of info at their fingertips.

Like I say "if it appears too good to be true, it is." What were these people thinking?? In this economy, to give up a job for a promise maybe isn't such a good idea.....

If they were doing the expected paperwork, like the article says, they had every reason to think they had a job. I think though, the bigger story is the fact that this woman has all of their personal information. This is where they could really get screwed.

As I said in my earlier post, anyone is vulnerable when you have a job (even you "who=tomd") because there are other people, even in reputable businesses, who have your info and can rob you blind. I guess I just don't understand people who seem to take joy in other peoples' misforutnes.

BTW, Thank-You to all the truckers who work so hard getting just about all of our every day things from one place to another and on the shelves of our stores.

I PERSONALLY KNOW A FEW OF THE PEOPLE WHO GOT SCAMED BY THIS LADY- I QUESTIONED HER ALL ALONG!! I WONDERED WHY A LADY THAT HAD MILLIONS COULDN'T DRESS BETTER. THIS LADY PROMISED MORE THAN JUST JOBS FOR THESE TRUCKERS- A FEW SHE LIVED WITH SHE PROMISED SO MUCH MORE. AS A FRIEND OF THESE PEOPLE I TRIED TO WARN THEM AND I QUESTIONED HER EXCUSES BUT WHEN YOU SEEM TO BE GETTING EVERYTHING HANDED TO YOU IN TODAY'S ECONOMY I THINK THEY THOUGHT THIS WAS THERE WAY OUT! I HOPE MANY SEE THIS AND SOMEONE CAN HELP FIND HER!

I TOO HAD RED FLAGS GO UP AND I TOLD A COUPLE OF THE SO CALLED EMPLOYES THAT "IF IT LOOKS TO GOOD OR SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBALBY IS"-GUESS WHAT! IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG AND THINGS JUST DIDN'T ADD UP. PROMISES AFTER PROMISES WHERE MADE AND SHE ALWAYS HAD AN EXCUSE. I QUESTIONED HER COMING JUST BY CHANCE TO MONTCALM COUNTY, GREENVILLE AT THAT, GEE BEING THE SECOND ON THE LIST FOR "UNEMPLOYED" IN THE STATE. SHE DIDN'T GET ANY INFORMATION PAPERS BECAUSE THEY GOT PULLED. JUST LOOKING FOR HER, SHE WILL DO IT AGAIN JUST HOPE SHE DOESN'T GET AS FAR WITH HER NEXT VICTIM(S)

Whose papers got pulled? All of them, or did you just take yours from her? Just curious.

Look guy I am as sorry about your situation as the next guy, but come on. How was she going to pay a dozen drivers that kind of money? She had no trucks, no trailers, without any kind of terminal at all, what freight is moving out of MI for those kind of rates? and if the freight wasnt starting or ending here in MI why put a yard in Greenville? it is 16 miles to 131, 34 miles to 127. A 600 mile radius limits you to Philly to the east, Memphis to the south and Kansas City to the west. What kind of FREIGHT was she promising you for you to believe her?
