if girls are quitting its not because they are sorry a## quitters its all the extreme crap they have to put up with and they have had troubles with the coaching program for a few years so they tried to stick it out for a long time but they are tried of the reverse psyco stuff they have been put through so i can see why they have decided to move on and they aren't the first to quit the team look back over the last couple years why has their only been no more than eight girls on the team they lasted longer than the others so get off their back if you were in their shoes what would you do you probably wouldn't last as long as they have

That's what's wrong with kid's today. All they want to do is whine and bellyache instead of doing the work. Then they run to mommy and daddy and blame the coach when they lose. They need to suck it up, shut up and do what the coach tells them to do. Or, they can do what it appears they are doing and be sorry-ass whining quitters.

So long as these girls are enjoying school and making good grades, I don't think it's anybody's business. 2) I haven't been around in quite some time, but when Matt Dean coached the team he worked them as hard as anyone, and I don't remember there being much strife or turmoil within the program.

I agree that it is the players own business but basketball might mean more to some than others (in the grand scheme of life) When your from a small town in northeast Arkansas, basketball (and grades for that matter) could make a difference in the future. For example, college scholarships. Maybe he works them hard because he sees potential. It's the players choice of how hard they actually want to work. Yes, others coaches have been just as aggressive but let's face it, when Marmaduke people don't like someone they are gonna come up with every excuse in the book to try and get them out. This is only my opinion and I feel like I can voice it because I am from The Duke.

I graduated from the duke, but they kill me how all they worry about is basketball. If they would put the effort in to it they would have a good softball team, not to mention the baseball team has done really good the last several years. It also kills me how you see the head man, and the principal at all the basketball games but not at one baseball game. If the basketball team had done as good as the baseball team the last several years they would be buying and giving them everything they wanted. They should build the baseball/softball teams a workout building with a batting cage and everything, but Marmaduke will never change they will always be the same as they always have. This is one of a few reason my kids, and i know a few other kids won't go there, they will go to another school that has these thing and treats each sport the same. And because of this they will probably kick Marmadukes butts.

the reason dean didnt ruffle any feathers is becuase he was dating BW, if you are from "The Duke" you know who that is. It's funny, I could've swore the reason he didn't ruffle any feathers is because he had a 10 year run where he was as successful as any coach in the state and as successful as anybody Marmaduke has ever had.

is that why he left and couldnt cut it where he went and had to tag along with wifey to get a job with the district, less than a year after he left? Once he got there, he had to deal with an assistant coach who had wanted his job and was constantly trying to undermine him as well as parents who wanted the same thing and fought him from day 1. Before you go spouting bullshit, why don't you get all the facts? Some of you idiots think that anybody who would dare leave Marmaduke is a traitor. Get real. Has it ever occurred to you that the school may be subpar as far as giving opportunities to it's most talented students? Have you ever considered that there are bigger and better opportunities outside of Marmaduke and can you blame people who leave for trying to improve their lives for their families? If you are going to get on here and talk that garbage, stop being a coward and post under your real name.

From what I understand, the team they lost to in the championship game was far and away the best team in the state that year. Moreover, more than a couple of local coaches told me that Marmaduke beat teams in the regional and state tournaments who probably had more talent from top to bottom than the Hounds. Coach Willis is an honorable man and a coach that I played for. I would have ran through a brick wall for him (as would almost all of my teammates) and he never yelled, screamed or belittled a single player who played for him. Our team was consistently acknowledged for our sportsmanship and the class we showed on the field. Here's a story that should illustrate to you why you should be happy this man is coaching our kids: When I was playing for Coach Willis, it was not uncommon for funeral processions to drive down Greyhound Dr. during our practices towards whatever cemetary is down the road from the school (it's been so long I've fogotten the name). Coach would always stop practice, have all the players take their caps off, and wait for the procession to pass by before resuming. We received multiple letters and phone calls from family members thanking us for the gesture. If you have a problem with this man coaching your kid, you must be crazy. So many people in the school and the town were recently revealed to be crooks, and you want to go after one of the good guys? Some things never change...

Several of these "sorry-#*$ quitters" don't quit playing basketball. Over the past few years, several have gone to Rector which, for whatever reasons, seems to offer better playing conditions.

wheres your name? if he was such a great person then why didnt he step up and be an assistant when he came back? Thank you so much for taking up for Coach Willis. Everything you said was right. He is on of the best coaches that school has ever had. His teams have been very good the last few years and they have gone to State. I don't think anyone has any right to be on here talking crap about him. This is about the girls basketball team not the baseball team. He has more heart for baseball and his teams than anyone I know. So please leave the baseball team out of this.
