From the time kids begin school teachers preach that weed is evil and will make you retarded or kill you. Kids try it anyway and find out itís harmless. So they think teachers are also lying about hard drugs like heroin. I had 2 friends tell me this right before they died of heroin overdoses! Also kids arenít injecting it, they snort it. The only way to solve this is to legalize hard drugs. If someone wants to ruin their lives and wear rags as clothes and be hungry all the time - who are we to stop them? End all welfare, let them starve. Food stamps and Free Food Pantries just allow users to buy more drugs to overdose on. Our government is the biggest enabler of drug addicts around! Tell users what amount of drug will kill them and let them do it if they want. If they commit real crimes with actual victims put them in prison. Drug users should not be hidden from society. We need to show our kids what hard drugs do. I say have a government run DMV type place that dispenses hard drugs but also offers them help. Bring in school kids on field trips to watch the users behind two way mirrors. Theyíll be scared to death of heroin, meth or crack after seeing that! No more peer pressure to try it. Itís not glamorous to be a drug user. You get a rush from it but youíre not in a Hollywood movie when you go visit Drug Dealers! Legalize to end the Billions in profits made by Drug Cartels. No more beheadings of innocents in Mexico. Also knowing who all the hard drug users are would be a benefit to society. If thereís theft in the neighborhood youíll know who to go find. Also thereís crack head lawyers, doctors and judges out there that we need to know about too.

How about we don't do that joe and how about we keep fighting the good fight and save as many of the kids as we can and if that means locking them up then so be it.

Fighting the good fight? What good fight? Ohh, you mean the 18 BILLION dollars we spend annually, which hasn't even put a slight dent in our drug problem, that fight? Locking people up for drugs does not help a person. From my experience all it does is introduce them to more connections and bigger criminals. People are worse off when they get out then when they go in which creates a never ending cycle. If we want to control this problem we need to take a different approach because this "war on drugs" is failing big time. We need to get these people in treatment centers, not jails. We need to educate our youth properly about the dangers of drugs, I do agree with Joe on the point that when kids find out they are lying about Marijuana, they tend to try other drugs thinking the same. Not realizing how bad it is until they are addicts. Teaching just say no is like teaching abstinence only sex education. Growing up my parents taught me the dangers of drugs, truthfully. Yes, I smoked some pot. It didn't make me lazy, or stupid, or an addict like the schools taught. I knew it was relatively harmless and completely nonlethal. I also drank alcohol as many teens do, but I knew it could be lethal so I treated it as such, I drank responsibly. The other drugs like coke and heroin I never tried and never had any desire to try. I know what they can do because I have seen the effects on so many I went to high school with, the heroin problem is out of control!! My parents talked to me honestly about drugs and I'm so glad they did.
