Good Luck!
There is a headshop on every corner,
More cafes than hungry people,
and in my entire life there has never been a successful nightclub. Read the recent articles about the club "Indigo".

I would welcome a succesful club, and everyone else will say the same thing, but the sad truth is that HUMBOLDT IS TOO CHEAP AND LAZY TO KEEP A NIGHTCLUB ALIVE.

Everyone up here complains about there being nothing to do but when someone finally opens up a club or venue, no one shows past the first month.
Ask:
Power Station
Hefe's
Club Tomo
The Country Club
Club West
Indigo
and on and on...

But then again, if I was stuck in a place like Humboldt is now with people like Heather, Mike and the rest of the vile, hate-filled Cons that polute these boards, I'd probably think about killing myself too.
At least you got that part right.
We try.

Now if only there was some way to get the Cons in Humboldt to off themselves in a mass suicide. Humboldt and the world would be much better off, that's for sure.

I am sorry if I was a downer, what you said about having the will can make anything work, even in an oversaturated market. That is the most important.

Overall in Humboldt County there are about 130,000 people. If you move 4 hours south you find Santa Rosa which in the city alone matches our entire population. In Santa Rosa there is enough of a population to support a night scene, but the scene is still lagging.

East three hours and you reach Redding which has a large population. I don't know what the nightlife is there but it is worth looking into.

South of Redding you find Chico, which is a party town, but like Arcata and Eureka, the demand is probably saturated.

Lastly look into the Ashland/Medford areas of Oregon as there are students to market to and there is a viable economy.

But don't take my cynicism as gospel, because what you said is true, if you want it enough you will make it happen.

You forgot Brew n' Beats on the Arcata Plaza in the '90's and Rumours in Eureka, now the Red Fox Tavern. It seems like Petaluma would have more of a demand for another cafe/head shop, night club.

Hay dude its not a downer, ive read all the up to date economical reports for the whole area and what you have said just confirms my suspicion.
I just needed some one on the ground to say it as well and you have.

Im glad of that fact because thats just saved me over a million pounds in house purchase location purchase and renovation, and i have now decided on a place near san fran which im flying out to see in the next couple of days.

The will to make something work is 1 thing but when you have a community thats never going to be what it once was, then you better off getting out while the going is good, and u have some cash left.

When the cops shoot someone because they are crazy I think that is considered suicide.

I've been thinking along those lines as well about Humboldt County.

My guess is that the high suicide rate is due to the huge amount of crazy people in Humboldt , the countie's drug industry and the associated high number of drug users.
