I am thinking about moving to Aurora. Can anyone tell me about this town? What are the people like there? How are the schools? Jobs? Anyone with any details about it.....I am all ears.

The school system is alright, no real jobs to speak of unless you want to make dogfood. Not a bad place to live, spent 10 years there.

I live in Marionville (nothing to brag about). I would stay clear away from Aurora. It has the same small town attitude; if you weren't born here, you don't belong. I have heard nothing but negative about the school system. I use to live outside of Phoenix, and if I had to do it again. I would not pick a small town MO town to live in!

Thank you for letting me know. I know exactly what you mean about small towns in Missouri....you would think that they would behave a little better cause the towns are so small. Hope things look up for you! Think of it this way...you could be dealing with the heat back home! he he he

Very true, there are better towns than Aurora but it isn't all that bad. The biggest knock is the shape of the town. They refuse to let any businesses in, so they have no money to beautify.

small Missouri towns suck! I was raised in Monett and I would not wish living in a SW Missouri town on my worst enemy...If you have any option go for it. With respect and best wishes. Robert.
ps Living in Oklahoma is far superior.

Run! Hurry! Stay away from the Aurora/Marionville area, and any little piece of crap town around there...save yourself. Living in that area is like those end of the world movies where there is nothing but grief and gloom outside your door. The people are backwards, hateful, broke, unempl oyed,meth-making,redneck,goobe rs.Long ago they were friendly, country people. Those people are gone. The city governments think their purpose is to fight with each other, leave people without services, and collect money. Anyone worth knowing realized this long ago and moved to a normal place.

Looks like that story hit a nerve Rob. The truth when put in these people's face, like that story does so well, makes them cringe and hiss like a vampire in the sun. Very true, very accurate story.

My Dad has suggested that we consider Oklahoma....We have driven through there so many times now and we think that El Reno area looks pretty nice. There is a Shell gas station there that has the cleanest bathroom I have ever encountered traveling! Everything was touchless....I was really suprised and impressed with it, ha ha ha. Anyway where would you say the best place in OK would be? Thank Robert!

Well I read the story posted by Lynford. I have not personally experienced this, but I have heard of it happening. I have had something else happen, and that is why we are looking to move to a larger area. I believe 100% the part of the story that tell that people in small Missouri towns are looking for way to make an easy buck. It is poor, they have nothing. They have lived here all their lives, and they do have that attitude "that this is their land", and are looking to scare off anyone who wasn't born here.

We came here 15 years ago on a cross country trip. Missouri is the most beautiful state we have ever seen. We thought that we could come here, away from the "rat race", raise a family and make a really nice life here. Missourians were friendly, crime is low compared to where we were. Cost of living in-expensive, and at the time we moved here there were jobs.

We are not discouraged by what we have experienced. We believe that we will find the right place to settle down. There is plenty of good here in Missouri and we will find it.

Thanks for all the great posts and keep on posten!

this is soooo stupid, why dont you just ask your relatives about movin' to aurora.just dont move to springfield.because it is the most cramped place because it is overloaded with people that are snotty.I've gone there a number of times and all my experiences there are forgettable.
