Why do the employees at Food City in Marion have to be so rude?

I don't shop there for just that reason, the majority there are rude. There are a few that really nice people. Just a few tho.

Couldn't agree with you more. There's one girl there, blonde and young and her tag says Sarah. I don't even go through her line anymore and i know others who feel the same. Even my grandmother does't go through her line, and my grandma usually gets along with everyone!

I think it is funny when they make a mistake, they are rude to the customer. Hello, you made the mistake, not me!

I must say though it is not only Food City. The majority of stores and restaurants are full of rude employees.

You are generally treated like you treat others. I seldom run across a rude employee.

I cant believe that. Im usually friendly and offer a smile but many will not return it. Ive run across many cashiers or sales people in different stores or restaurants who act like their job is the most horrible thing ever.

I use to work there.I was always nice to the customers, but if I made a mistake most of the time it took a few minutes to fix and some customers where not very understanding. But true my motto was treat the customers like they are treating you, good or bad.

Has anyone noticed the bakery/deli in Marion FC going WAY downhill in the past year?
The cakes are looking horrible!! I've seen a handful of good ones at family events but the majority of them are horrible. I've seen several misspellings, cramped words when there was plenty of room, ugly ass "roses", and just a crappy icing job all over. I always take photos of cakes at birthdays, anniversary parties, etc. and looking back they get worse and worse! I did happen to see a great john deere one in July at a kid's party but other than that, they are a sorry excuse for cakes. Even the display ones in their cooler are crappy.

I now go to Chilhowie's FC to get a cake.

I rarely shop @ FC. I never have liked it and groceries are more expensive. We ordered a fruit tray in the summer and they dropped it while handing it to us. The lady picked up the fruit and tried to put it back on the tray and give it to us a mess. We told them it was not acceptable, so we had to wait while they made a new tray. We were late for our event. Another bit of info if you want to get really nice cakes call Ms. Stacys Cakes. She is a HomeEc Teacher @ MSHS & does cakes on the side. She does an excellent job. She hopes one day to actually open a bakery in Marion full time.

The deli has really gone downhill....we like getting the slice meats @ getting someone to help is a joke. After waiting on someone to help u they act like it is a major chore to slice it and if you ask for two things its killling them. They take no care in helping you at all. I would get it somewhere eles and have tried foodlion and ingels but they dont have the two my husband wants....someone needs to manage it better or replace the help with friendly ppl. I work retail and u r always to be nice to customers no matter what ur personal life is!!!!

I agree with deli. I have always worked with the public and you have to come to work and leave personal life at home. Some people also need to evaluate whether it is just their personality and a customer svc. job may not be where they should be working at all.

It doesn't work if you are not sincere and try to fake it.

I was on facebook and a girl i went to school with works there and her employer was listed as food city and under her job description it said "food stamps, trashy welfare peopel.." etc. I dont see how they would tolerate a cashier making fun of their customers. I used to work for food city in chilhowie and they wouldve fired me on the spot if i pulled that kind of crap.

Someone should print it out and give it to the manager. It probably won't help though. I bought one fugly cake from there and ordered it a week in advance for a party. When I got it, it too had a spelling mistake. Not what i expected since i gave the woman a TYPED paper of what i wanted wrote on the cake (spelled correctly of course). The manager went in circles with me telling me he thought the cake was fine because he saw it go out when my relative picked it up for me. I was busy with the party but took the time to take a photo of it and got half my money back when i marched up there and showed him the HORRIBLE colors and writing done on it. It looked like my 4 year old son created it!

Food City is a joke. I have heard of alot of folks getting hurt in there and if you do for whatever the reason it was all your fault.
Also, alot of the staff just really don't care one way or the other. They are there for the paycheck like the rest of us who has to work for our money. But with the cost of food these days and people trying to stretch their money as far as possible they should be glad that they have a job. I don't go in there unless I just have to which I am sure is no skin off of anyone's back but maybe if enough folks did stop shopping there and go to the other grocery stores in Marion they might have to take notice on how they treat folks.

food city is not a place to make friends while shopping. it is a place to buy your groceries and get on out. if you are not happy go to another store. give somebody a chance to get in line.

So you are saying if you are in a store and run into a friend you are not supposed to talk? "I`m sorry I have not seen you in years but I can`t talk because I`m in Food City." Give me a break!

I don't go to make friends I have plently elsewhere. What the problem is is the workers, they dont even try to help you and that is the job they have. If you have to stand in line to wait on someone to help you and then they come over with a look of horror because you have asked them to slice some cheese for you than yes.....it is a problem. Trust me if it was selfserve I would do it myself but I guess its a health issue!!!
