I do have to agree, at least about a few I have seen. I have been cut off in an intersection, pulled out in front of etc. The other day I was on west chilhowie street and a smaller bus was coming down through there going about 60. The whole bus was rocking and looked out of control. There is no need to drive that way with or with out children on the bus.(I believe due to the time of day, that the bus was empty). In the same token I also see very safe and careful drivers that keep the kids seated and from hanging out of windows, I see them take extra precaution to keep the kids and other drivers safe.

It does no good to call the school board. My kids bus driver got a speeding ticket while my kids was on the bus.i called and complained but he still drives the bus and that was a few years ago.he doesn't make them sit down on the bus.you can get behind his bus and watch the kids roaming around, hanging out the windows ect..

They have school board meeting that you can attend. Also the PTO can have some influence if enough parents stand up. him. My daughter was dropped off by a bus driver and he did not have a permission slip to drop her any where other than at home. I got a call at work that my daughter was picked up at school by a dark blue or black SUV and was missing. My heart sank. No one knew who it was she had left with. I went straight to the school and talked to the principal. Mr. Murray was the driver who had her on his bus. I drove straight to the bus lot to his bus and ask if she was still on the bus. He said I dont know, go look. He finally got up after I checked the bus and she wasn't there. I ask if he had let her off the bus? Oh yea I did I got a permission slip here. No he did not. The slip was days old and had plainly been signed by a second grade child. I agree the drivers should pay more attention and not be in such a hurry. But, I also agree the parents need to encourage their kids to behave on the buses. It is a challenging job with a lot of responsibilities that come with it. My suggestions:
1) Bus drivers slow down
2) Report any unsafe acts by bus drivers
3) Report other unsafe acts towards school busses
4) Parents talk to your kids about proper behavior
5) Teachers loading busses be alert
6) PRAY FOR OUR DRIVERS, KIDS, TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS,
been there

Parents you are not doing a good job about proper behavior. Children lie, steal, cuss, sign their own notes. The drivers have to watch the road, not check notes. They want to have sex, play games, talk on cell phones. Heaven help us.

That's BS every morn. after the kids have been droped off the bus is empty and they will pull out in front of or cut you off its like the drivers need to go take a poop there in such a hurry to get home and take a crap.

What makes you think bus drivers here are any different than they are anywhere else. I doubt that many of you complaining have ever had any experience with bus drivers elsewhere. I don't tind them any different here than any of the other four places I have lived. It is a modest paid, thankless and stressful job. Most of you wouldn't last a week trying to put up with the kids that hassle the driver.

I totally agree! After putting up with a bus load of the little half raised idiots, you'd be lucky if I didn't run over somebodies ass just for the hell of it.

I will be out one day this week with a video and I will have it to take to school board. I thought I was the only one who thought this. But after seeing the smart @ss coment above by a bus driver I will do something. As car as driven a bus there's no diff.between it and a large pick up. That I do know for I am a truck driver.

Thank God I'm not the only one who has noticed this!! I have been about ran over by Marion School buses several of times!! They do think that they own the road and expect you to give them the right of way no matter what!! Because of this, I do not allow my child to ride the bus!!

I'm not a bus driver. I was commenting on Old Timers post. It wasn't a smart ass comment as you so thoughtfully put it. It's the truth. Furthermore I believe a lot of the things such as blocking the road when unloading kids is mandated. I do think they could slow down a bit, especially when they run empty they seem to be in a bit of a hurry. I'll bet if you consider the amount of miles driven, their safety record is better than most of you ding dong mommies and hang dog daddies. If you want to complain about something, complain about being behind a bus on your way to work when it stops to pick up a kid. Most of the time you will have to sit and wait while little precious whoever opens the door to the house, runs half way to the bus gets called back to the house to get whatever they forgot, runs back again, drops something, picks their nose, then stands in the bus door trying to put their coat on. Parents these day just mainly suck at their jobs.

You apparently thing your child is safer when you drive him or her. When a child gets injured or killed, it is in the newspapers on on TV. That happens infrequently. Think about how many kids are killed or injured in private vehicles and they don't make the news. I think a kid is safer inside the bus.

Also, nobody has explained how the bus drivers are worse here than anywhere else. How many of you out there are willing to be bvus drivers? It is part time and the pay is modest. I would wager that the pay is low enough that most of you would still qualify for the free stuff you are getting now.
