If Obama bailed out GM, why shouldn't Obama bail out a small business like the Park Drive In?

Sixty to 80 percent of the ticket sales, he said, goes back to the movie companies.

Know wonder there not many left, that is way to much,60% at the most is fare.
The raffle thing is a good idea, but $100,000.00 is a lot to come up with, need to set up places to accept donations,i would hate to see it close down.

At least I could see where my tax dollars are working, instead of going to a bunch of union workers that already make twice as much as they are worth. Unions are the reason we pay 25K for a 15K car.

what do you know about unions? Let me tell you about a union. With a union they can't lay off someone who has worked at a place for 25 years and keep someone who has been there for a year. With a union seniority counts and this is how jobs are awarded. With a union the kiss ass method of getting to the top doesn't work. With a union bosses can't treat you any differently because they don't like you. Everyone is treated the same. People want to bash on unions when they have no idea what they are talking about. Unions keep things fair and safe if employers would have more morals and treat people equally and fairly there would be no need for a union. In my opinion there need to be more unions. Just because someone is in a union doesn't mean they don't have to work , they still have production standards they have to meet just like every other place has. It means I have job security and they can't replace an old man who has worked hard for a company for 25 years with some kid who has worked for 1 year, just because they want to . So whoever you are you have no idea what a union is about. That is just more those lies that Fox News wants to tell. And by the way in most cases union plants are second to none when it comes to quality and workmanship you can factcheck that. I will take that union made car anyday of the week before I drive around in some jap piece of crap no matter the price. Go Union

I like the drive in, I actually go there a lot in the summer and take the kids and they like it to. I don't know the owner personally but I feel like it's not the public's responsibility to fund upgrades needed to keep the business open. I think it's okay if people want to help and donate but what happens to all the money when they fall short? Say they raise $60,000 and he can't come up with the rest. Then what? It's been my experience that if I had to have something and couldn't get it, I apply for a loan. Why can't he get a business loan from a bank and pay it back? I assume they've known this was coming (not something they just discovered this year) so why did he rip out the batting cages (the only ones around here I know of) and add all those inflatables? That cost money to remodel all that, why not apply that to the new equipment. I hope he gets the money he needs in order to keep this place open but I just had some concerns I wanted to put out

Has anyone thought of the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission? They give away lots of money and this seems like a good cause.

why should hard working people give owners of drive-in money ? why don't they file bankruptcy. there sure are more important things in this world than a drive-in, I would rather donations be sent to food banks. what has this world come to?

well, that is you, if they weren't working making money and this wasn't a side job to make more money, it would be different. There are many people you can help that don't already have jobs and money. what is wrong with you? i'm sure they are nice people, but they don't need a drive-in no more than you or I do. but people need shelter, food, clothing ,etc.

I feel sure Food City has gotten several million dollars either directly or indirectly from the commission. A drive-in is a cultural kind of thing. It was just a suggestion.

What does he know about Unions? Evidently a hell of a lot more than you. The only reason Unions still exist is because of sissies like you that don't have the nerve or intelligence to do their own bargaining. You deadbeats want a silver spoon stuck up your ass for doing nothing. That's why all the damn jobs are overseas. The stuff you make is crap because the companies can't make a profit without using cheap ass overseas materials. Just how much of the products you produce are put "yeah all you do is put crap together, you don't make a damn thing" together out of shit made in some country that hates your guts. So go Union....and go broke!
