TYhe government Price Support program was VOTED OUT BY THE GROWERS because they were led to believe that they would be better off and better taken care of financially yet the real reason was now the companies could use Foreign tobacco as a leverage tool to offer cheaper prices to the growers, take it or leave it. The result greed takes over and change has come.
Yes smoking and second hand smoke is bad for everyone
but the ban of smoking in public places did not kill the program, Greed and misconception did the job.
The promises made by the companies, mainly one, caused the BIG PROBLEM.
The program is gone and will never return and now the farmers(tobacco) are seeing the results they couldn't believe would come.
Trusting big company promises caused the results.

I'm glad Surfside Beach went no-smoking and need to keep the beachfront no-smoking, too. Tourists must think the our sand is a giant ashtray.

Going out to eat is a pleasure now, but those restaurants that used to be smoking, really need to continue getting rid of that stale, old smell that still lingers.

You all complain about cigarette smoke, what about all those junk cars on the road burning oil, and or gas that we get behind, that smells worse. All those people who wear way to much calogne or perfume for those of us that have allerges or asthma
is worse.

What's next. Perhaps outlawing promiscuous sex, as it sounds the death knell for thousands every year, not including the murders. Unleaded gas fumes are to a carcinogen, besides being odiforous. The gentle rain that falls is laden with sulfuric acid. Cigarettes should be but a start in improving health and longevity.

Most likely these ways of dying hare so popular that little will be done. At least not until there are enough concerned people to force reform on everyone else.

Sorry for your illness. However, tobacco companies never lied to me, and when I started smoking in the 60's I knew the risks. To say you were not informed of the risks of smoking is to say you had NO common sense, and that you were an illiterate fool. The only reason ex-smokers say that BT lied to them, is because the rANTIS say BT did. You show us one ad from BT that came right out and said smoking does NOT harm the smoker. People knew long before the rANTI propaganda that smoking was not good for them. I remember a lot of smokers in the 50's saying, as they lit up a cigarette "another nail in my coffin".

The tobacco companies are NOT responsible for your smoking. YOU are the ONLY one that is responsible.

WHAT IS POISON is cars. One car every .8 of a mile puts out 162 million cigarettes of carbon monoxide, 1.2 billion cigarettes of nitrous oxide. It would take millions of smokers in one place at the same time to do what one car does. I say ban cars. Wait they have already stared. Cell phones are now know to cause cancer. Tax the hell out of them. Lets do better, ban them. Wait they already started.

What am I going to do with a Bee sting and no wet tobacco...I guess I'll have to settle on some toxic, pharmaceutical medication that will be absorbed from my skin into my blood stream and wipe out my Kidney and kill me stone dead a year later, after a 3 million dollar medical bill for diagnoses of every disease on the planet earth.

The customers must have bar funk. I don't go to bars, it's cheaper AND safer to drink amongst friends, at home. None of us smoke, either.

It is "smoker's funk". Smokers destroy the ability to smell and do not realize how bad they stink. so, next time you are sitting in a smoke free bar and all of a sudden this overwhelming stench fills the air, it is probably a smoker who has just walked back in from the outside. If you cannot smell the smoke, and only smell the stench it means they stepped in a pile of dog crap while they were outside smoking but cannot smell it themsleves.

Nobody realized just how bad the rANTIS stunk until the smoke cleared ... I think it's time for another ban!
