Sorry to hear someone had to die that way. Number one rule of life, look both ways before you cross the road.

She probably didn't see the truck coming. She was 93.

If you can't see a loud noisey dump truck rolling down the road you shouldn't be on the road, walking or driving. Not to mention the driver was turning when she got it hit, do you have any idea how much noise a dump truck down shifting makes? She must have been blind and deaf.

Big D ... sorry that you seem to be so callous ... at this time of year especially. Though I never knew this poor soul, I am sure that those who did are greiving and comments like yours are not needed. May the good Lord bless those that lost a friend and loved one.

Karen,

I am not going to disagree with you. It is very sad. Just to bad she didn't see the truck

It's so sad. Bless her 93-year-old soul. However, realistically, it is pretty hard to not see or hear those trucks. It was her time, no matter where she was or what she was doing. My condolenses to her family, especially at this time of year.

She was my Grandma Boss, not by blood but by heart! She was a very sweet lady and she will be greatly missed! I can remember going to stay at the cabin in Canada with her and Grandpa Boss. She was always so positive and light hearted. I'll miss you Grandma...

NY STATE LAW: All drivers MUST stop for pedestrians already in the crosswalk. It doesn't matter what color the light is. Keep that in mind when your driving. I know this is a terrible accident but drivers have to be more attentive of people in the crosswalk.

Her fault bottom line. Cite all of the laws you think you know, but if she was so much as an inch outside of a cross walk, and crossing against the light this is her fault.

It is a reminder of how vulnerable these elderly people are. As we age we lose senses sometimes. Sad but true. This is why many times the elderly are put into adult daycare. So trained professionals can watch out for them.

This was ALL their faults. I don't know of anywhere where it's ok to hit a pedestrian no matter where they are in the road. California it's against the law if they step one foot off the curb into the road. They obviously didn't see here for whatever reason, and she obviously assumed they would stop or were stopping when they came to make their turn. If she was crossing against the light, that means THEY were trying to RIGHT ON RED, which is only allowed when it is safe to do so, and a pedestrian screwing up is not safe. This right on red allowance is badly misused on the roads today, where people start honking at you if you decide you can't make that turn as fast as they want you to, when they can't see what's coming as well as you can, and some people don't even stop to look!

wow you would think people would be more heart felt but I guess you would have to be a half way decent human being in order to feel compassion. So tell me people next time I hear of a house burning to the ground in Rochester killing the inhabitants we should just say "wow you couldn't smell the smoke?" or the next time someone gets gunned down we should blame the victim.People never cease to amaze me.

So if I am driving my car down the road, legally and some old broad decides to walk out in front of me and gets clobbered by my Powerstroke it is my fault that they were jaywalking, or disobeying a traffic control device?

Riiight.

There is some level of responsibility for the pedestrian.

Did I say she was? I was simply responding to another comment on the board. Get over your self... Really.

Facts are facts, if she was more aware, she would be alive right now. ARGUE THAT POINT.
