It would be interesting to see your families traditions and plans for Thanksgiving. A special recipe that adds to the dinner or long-standing ritual? In my family, which was large with five generations, we always drew names for Christmas and the fun was to see who could keep the name secret until Christmas. What's yours?

You are such a stupid individual. Nothing is good, kind, sweet or just interesting. I'll bet you laugh at your own jokes! So go look in the mirror, there's the joke! Back to the original post: My family takes turns saying a small prayer, of something we are thankful for in the past year. |

Just got to have the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn and above all the Bird and dressing. Again why i have high cholesterol (See threads...Best burger and Lipitor!)
We like to order the peppermint pig.Traditionally, after Christmas dinner the head of the household places the pig in a velveteen pouch and smashes it with a metal mallet. It is then passed around the table, so everyone gets a turn. Typically, each person recalls something good that happened over the last year.It turns into a really positive family tradition. It provides closure to the year, says Fitzgerald.I think these guys back 120-years-ago had a pretty good idea. |

Recalling fun times we had when growing up. Mama and Daddy, God rest their souls, working hard to keep us all together and raise us to be good citizens.

Gotta work no time for thanksgiving no time for family I only make 8 dollars a hour no black friday no christmas I get to work through it all. Its really bad that no good jobs are here in Mcdowell for anyone. Why dont you ask what the people who have a 40 hour week job gonna do and people who can make about 12 to 20 dollars a hour!!! You make people like me feel like crap!!

At least you have a job, thats a lot more than at least 15% of McDowell County citizens can say.Be Thankful for that! Happy Thanksgiving! |

My family either will gather together and fix the bird, ham, and all of the trimmings...or we'll say to heck with the cooking and go to Ryan's Steakhouse in Forest City. For about $10, they got it all and you dont have to clean up afterwards!

Ryan's sounds like an awesome deal...cheaper and no clean up afterward. |

Iam driving to my family's place for dinner. We are straying off course as far as the traditional dinner is concerned. We plan on pinto beans as we are not fortunate enough to go all out because our income is depleted. A lot of tough times and job losses = hardships and sacrifices.
