It's not nearly as good as it was 10 years ago but It's still the best private industry in the county and maybe in the western part of the state to work in. I know people that drive over 100 miles a day to work there. That should tell you something.

Actually Baxter Healthcare is a publicly traded company (Symbol BAX). They are not private. It is not nearly as good a place to work, nor is the pay as good as those who don't work there seem to think it is. More and more people are realizing there is life after Baxter.

People in McDowell do not like anything that has work in it. They are mostly into welfare. Baxters could do better elsewhere. They have to bring people in from elsewhere to stay afloat.

Don't even give me that crap about the people of McDowell not liking any thing that that has work in it. Baxter would have plenty of people to choose from locally if they treated their employees like people and not slaves. After years of shitting on their employees,the word has gotten out and people don't want to work there. They have to reach out farther for potential work force to find those who haven't yet heard how they operate. With that said, it is dependable work if you can stomach it.

Any place that allows me the ability to provide for my family and has insurance is a good place to work these days. Here is a hint, the reason its called work and not rest is because you are trading your LABOR for money.

I work! Maybe I am an exception but I do not know anyone on welfare nor do any of the people I go to church with receive welfare. A few are on unemployment for sure but they are actively looking for work. I think to paint all of McDowell's citizens as lazy and seeking welfare does a disservice to the county and your children (if you have any) and to your relatives (if you have any) here. This county has its share of problems but the people I know and were raised with know the value of a dollar, know the value of a day's work and won't take or ask for air in a jug. They have pride and believe in self sufficiency. For every person on welfare here, there are ten hardworking persons and three or four looking for a job who will work. Not every person from the south of the border is illegal (nor a hard worker for that matter), not every young girl with a baby is unmarried and in doubt about the father's identity and not everyone or anywhere near the majority for that matter in this county is looking for government mail box money. Generalities show your lack of productive thought. Give us jobs, we will work and buy cars and homes and take vacations. Take away our jobs and we still will keep a roof over our kids heads even if its buy cutting loans and picking up cans. all we need is opportunity, not a handout.

Why would you not apply to provide for your family? Employers rarely knock on your door asking if you want a job and they never knock to ask if your interested in an executive position. I would do any work, McDonalds-no slight to those who work there intended whatsoever, picking up your trash or cleaning your comodes if I had to in order to provide for my family. Maybe its not your age, education or even ability that keeps you looking for a job but maybe its your attitude that keeps you hoping the congress extends benefits. Suck it up and do what you have to do for your family because after all those kids didn't ask to be here and you are no better than anyone else to work at whatever job you can find to put food on the table.

Wow I'm disappointed. It took 18 minutes for the internet troll to crawl out from under the bridge and voice its' opinion, that most likely, nobody wants to hear. First off, you don't know me or my situation. I may be employed now and looking for a job with better insurance. Second, I may not have any family to support. It's obviously hard for you to imagine someone without enough kids to field a baseball team in Marion, but there's a few of us around that chose not to squirt out children like rabbits. And third, if you want to scrub the toilets at McDonald's, that's certainly your right. I just ask that you keep your dick beaters off of my Big Mac. If you've really heard enough whining, then maybe you should keep quiet for a while, or maybe not type as hard when you're posting opinions about someone you don't know.

Plantation owners made sure that their "employees" had all of their needs provided for. I guess that those songs that they sang while they were "Laboring" were songs of joy just knowing that their employers were providing for them. Let's all remember that when we go back to work Monday on the old "Baxter Plantation" and sing us a happy song too.

That was funny as hell. I needed that laugh after getting out of the Baxter plantation. They really provided for me this week, provided me with 6 days to work.

Well said and very True. Whatever happened to WORK Ethic ? If the only thing you have to offer is your labor, then you labor or do without.

work ethic?? Alot of people don't know what that means.. they just go on welfare and let the rest of us keep them up.. and why do without when you can take from everyone else.. people living on welfare seem to have more than those of us who don't.. messed up society! and our government just keeps taking and taking from the ones that bust their hump to make ends meat...

Gets more and more relevant doesn't it?

Taxman

Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I知 the taxman,
Yeah, I知 the taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I知 the taxman,
Yeah, I知 the taxman.

(if you drive a car, car;)- I値l tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit;)- I値l tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, cold;)- I値l tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, walk;)- I'll tax your feet.

Taxman!

'Cause I知 the taxman,
Yeah, I知 the taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for,(ah-ah, mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more.(ah-ah, mister heath)
'Cause I知 the taxman,
Yeah, I知 the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die,
Declare the pennies on your eyes.
'Cause I知 the taxman,
Yeah, I知 the taxman.

And you're working for no one but me.

Taxman!

I'd hate to have to tell my next employer or potential employer why I was fired.. Uh cause I farted all the time.. Don't think they would want to kiss your butt be too afraid you might pass gass on them lol! I find that really hard to believe they fired you for that.. Written up sure I'd believe that but not fired. Besides to keep from losing my job I'd of went to wal mart and bought some Beno..
