The big question for me is where was administration when a male teacher was giving a female student a ride home...alone? It seems there are either no policies in place or there was no check and balance on the procedures. An administrator should make sure a teacher is never alone with a student. Anyone can be accused of anything in this day and time. Teachers and parents should know that teachers and staff will not be put in a situation where they are alone. Something was wrong with the pick up procedure or end of day dismissal for this student to have gotten in the car of this staff member and no one know it. With all the crazy things going on today, you have to run a tight ship on policy and procedures. It protects students and staff.

My thoughts wrote:
Fact - Danny Castle is a nympho who had multiple affairs with church members, at least one of which was a teenager.
Fact- Mr.Zullo was in a position of authority at New Manna and raped a little girl.(the law states that a girl that young can not consent to have sex with a grown man.)
Fact - There are now charges against yet another grown man, who was also in a position of authority over children, for statutory rape of a young girl.
And you people don't see a pattern, or actually a PROBLEM here?
I'll be honest with you, I know a lot of the members of that church and I know the Pastor and his family very well. The fact is there is a certain arrogance among all of them. They look down at everyone else, even members of other churches. Most of them act like if you don't go to their church you must be going to hell. I was at camp meeting once and all the different preachers there were standing up an introducing themselves and telling what church they were from. When it was Tony's turn to introduce himself, the females in the New Manna section errupted in shouts and cheers like they were at a concert or ball game. It was very awkward. It happened again at a revival I was at. Same exact thing, only that time it was only one woman that cheered. Again, extremely awkward. I said all that to say this, there is a general strange atmosphere in that place and with those people. Something is not right. It's like the women are cheerleaders for the men, the men do whatever they want to do whether it's right or wrong, and the women keep silent about it. It is very cult-like behavior. It's comparable to the Union County polygamy ranch where DSS went in and removed all the children. People I beg of you, if you are reading this and you have a young girl in that church please protect her. Don't let some pervert ruin her life. And please don't let her believe that women are put on this earth for men to treat like garbage.
I COMPLETELY agree with your post my thoughts! I went to New Manna in the late 80's-early 90's and it was the EXACT same way then with people looking down on others who didnt attend New Manna. That was back when Marion had a family by the name of Strode who preached all over town that all were condemned to hell that didnt repent. Anyways, yes the women are cheerlearders and the men get away with murder, well rape at least. But you can't tell a New Maniac any different because they will stick by the "men" of the church no matter what they do!

Every woman in that church stands behind their men.Even if they really feel differently you will never hear it because of fear.
Every woman in that church should be standing outside with a picket sign every time the doors are open.
Every one of you will give an account for the evil that goes on in that church.

Well she flat out lied about what was said the night the church was told about Michael. She also failed to mention that the church has and is supporting the teenager who is involved with current case even though she is not a part of our church. So, that should lead one to question that she may have lied about other things she said involving the church. We do not support what has happened in any way shape, form or fashion. I can not speak for how things used to be as I have only been there a couple of years, but Tony Shirley and his family are wonderful people and none of us know how this must be tearing him apart. I feel for these girls, I do, but is it necessary to take the word of one and bash an entire place because of it? What was done to these girls was inexcusable BUT why...WHY does this involve the church when you all do not know for sure what has or has not happened? Please let it go. You are causing harm to even more innocent people in the process of trying to protect the very ones you think are innocent. Think twice before you post.
Tony didnt start to support the teenager until a few of the older men in the church got on his case about it. They were furious about the way it was handled in the previous scandal and said it was not going to be handled that way again. On the first Wednesday night befor campmeeting Tony NEVER said pray for the girl and her family. I'm not sure where you are getting that he did. If Ms.Rumfelts story helps one person it will be worth it. Tony isnt perfect and neither is anyone else in the church I just believe she wanted to let people know what really happened instead of letting Tony decide what people did and didn't know about the situation. If the things in her article were a lie then I believe Tony would of commented when the lady writing the article contacted him but he didnt. Instead he contacted the Christian Law Association to make sure he could not be held responsible for anything that came out in the article.

You're perverts. You're felons. You're sexual predators making excuses for felonious and perverted behavior.

You're the one who should think twice before you post. Make no mistake, if you attend that church and support them with your time, tithes and offerings, you ARE supporting whatever goes on there and you will answer for it. There is no gray area there, it's cut and dried. You are deceived if you think otherwise.

You say she lied about what was said that night? Well I know there are people who will say the Pastor did not mention praying for the victim. Who's right? Without proof on tape you don't have an argument.

If the girl lied, Pastor Shirley had the opportunity to clear his name in his sermon Sunday night a week ago. All he had to say was the article told lies and he was not guilty. Instead he said "What would Jesus do - Nothing." That's his answer? That won't hold water. Jesus answered the Pharisees every time they accused him. Read the book of Matthew.
