I live on what they call a "cutoff" street that is only 25 miles per hour(sign is there just as you turn corner) but they still speed down the street like bats out of hell. My street doesn't have a speed hump, but sure in the hell could use one, before some one gets mamed or killed just crossing the street

They need to put some over on state street not just in front of the school. People speed down state street all the time even the police when they are not on a call. There needs to be about 6 or 8 more added to the whole street to finish it up.

I vote we just put speed bumps every 100 feet on every street in town. Then we won't need police to worry about speeders at all, will we?

What was really funny and I wish I could have caught it on film, was having to slow for the "SPEED HUMP" sign and glancing over to see two squirrels who were obeying the sign by "speed humping"....
now that was funny, but seriously could we not come up with a less redneck sounding sign? Speed Break or Speed Control ahead ?
something besides the term "SPEED HUMP"
some friends of ours from out of state saw the signs and just rolled laughing; but they laugh at a lot of things when they are here visiting...

That seems the only way to get things done in Marion.

It could also be used to help find the local "kitchen" so tweakers won't get lost. Mingle wrote: Great. Everytime it knocks my front end out of alignment, I'll e sure to direct my bill to his office. If they're knocking your front end out of alignment, it is YOUR fault, not the speed humps. Try slowing down like you're supposed to and there's absolutely no way it can damage your vehicle. If idiots would stop using back streets as speedway shortcuts, the humps wouldn't be necessary. Don't blame the city, blame irresponsible drivers. If some are always in such a fricking hurry to get from point A to point B....trying leaving a little earlier and stop waiting until the last minute to get going wherever it is they're going.

first off they should be on streets of less than 20mph because hitting them at 25 is too fast for their size. while some cars and trucks may go over smooth at 25 mph some will not and it could be dangerous.
next the term "HUMP" should be re-worded. it sounds so redneck and inappropriate.. i am offended by it and feel it should not have been used.

If you don't like the speed HUMP, take another route, if you don't like beer DON'T DRINK IT, if you don't like church DON'T GO... My God people, get over the pety crap and get a life. Life is unfair, hard, never level, rough seas, and will never be everything YOU want....so get over it. You all pull your head out of your butts and quit your whinning!!! Get Over It!!!!!!

Well, aren't you Mr. Cool today. We'll listen to you, and quit whining, when you can actually spell whining right. ;) Deal? If people never "whined" or complained about anything, nothing would ever get done. People are "whining" and complaining right now about how the city never goes anywhere.. are you going to say anything to their "whining" and complaining? IF someone doesn't like something.. they complain. Get over it? Quit acting like Mr. Holy, like you have never complained about anything before.. you do it on a daily basis. Hypocrite.

Also, if you live on a street you are going to have traffic... if you don't like traffic or cars, then please go buy in a sub-division or on a private road....
thats your right and by all means what you should do.
thats like living waterfront on lake james and saying you don't like seeing boats or people in bathing suits!
you live in town for a reason and you take the good with the bad...
