Who had the idea for the countless and pointless speedhumps and stop signs on N. Madison street?

The residents of the street wanted them. They made many requests to the City Council pointing to the "speed deamons" that almost ran over a child on the north end. Cars were video taped "jumping" the top of the hill and sparks flying out from under the car(s). I don't blame them one bit. They also have video of New Manna drivers running stop signs after church on Sundays. Guess they were in a hurry to get to their beer stash or pot roast.

There are "speed humps" on quite a few streets in Marion now. Too many people have no regard for the posted 25 MPH speed limit on most of these back streets and it endangers pedestrians.

most of them are on 25 MPH streets, so if you hit it hard enough to knock your car out of alignment, you are obviously speeding and it is your own fault

I thought Councilman Edwards, he of the traffic crossing light and feral cat fame, was the culprit here too?

Very good question Mingle , N Madison St is NOT a heavily traveled street, the stop signs are pointless & situations like this, our tax dollars need to be used more on sidewalk repairing for the safety of our youngsters & blind curve mirrors in the city & county on secondary roads, etc.

Oh no, can't do that. All those lowered escalades will scrape. And they can't run from the cops with speed humps in the middle of the road, they might trip. What's wrong with you.

If you knock your front end out of alighnment going over a speed hump, then you were going too fast for what-ever your driving. Goodness, are you stupid or something?

Nevermind the emergency vehicles that must travel these roads and are forced to slow for these ridiculous 'humps'. I'm sure that ride feels good in the back of an ambulance with a broke leg.

thank you. that's the whole point.....to keep speeding drivers out of residential neighborhoods and to keep you from using these neighborhoods as a bypass around stoplights. Heaven forbid anyone should have to sit at a stoplight for a minute .

It's not heavily traveled NOW since the installation of the speed humps and extra sign. It has def. helped to slow drivers down.

Daily Horoscope for November 15

Taurus

The Moon moves through your seventh house of marriage and partnerships, helping you make a fresh start in important relationships. This may be painful as stern Saturn and obstructive Pluto complicate matters; you may have difficulty accepting certain changes within yourself or someone you love. Some of you may also be in conflict with a parent; try to step back and see the great cycle of life.
