As the mother of a former queen I was amazed at the outcome of the pageant. I believe all judges should be from out of town with no connection to anyone in Marion. It was very obvious to everyone that contestant number 9 had the BEST talent!!
As the mother of contestant #9, I appreciate all the gracious comments. I felt she did a phenominal job and I'm proud of her no matter what. She done her best and that's what matters. The opinion of six people that judged the pageant mean nothing to me. Her character is above superior and her talent is immeasurable.! She will be in the Rhododendrun pageant in June and I'm just proud of her for being in the pageant and trying her hardest! I do appreciate all of the nice things people have siad about her, thank you from the bottom of my heart!:^)

I agree...I feel the judges did a horrible job. If 50% goes to tallent then why didn't some of the best tallents even place? However this isn't the winners fault and she is just a child. The judges are to blame. We need new judges every year!

I suppose the six judges liked something about the winner. She is a talented little girl. They are judged on a complete package not just stage talent.

I agree this year was a JOKE. Nobody even clapped when it was over...what a reaction! AND there were quite a few judges that have "ties" to the town and people who run the show.
Lets just say that the girls who are REAL winners will have their time to shine...in much bigger and better places! Congrats to all the girls who show TRUE inner beauty as well as talent !!! I guess its hard for small town judges to recognize the total package.

The pageant is based on talent 50%, interview and walk 25% each. I am sure contestant #9, who is Brooke, with her bubbly personality did fine in her interview and her walk was outstanding. Before you ask I do not personally know #9.
Totally agree!! Hands down THE best thing that contest has ever seen- what a peach she was :)

What about 1st runner up and 2nd runner up? So all the rest was so much better than those two girls?
I'm not excatly sure how you can quote inner beauty unless you know the girls, the winner and the runner ups personally.

YES your're correct! Those girls were talented no doubt- but the ONE blew every single one out of the water. And as far as inner beauty is concerned see Justice Served's comment on previous page. What goes on backstage is far from pretty for some.

To the mother of #9 I am marking my planner. I will be there to support your child and just to see that AWESOME routine again. Its worth the money to see it again :)

Unless the person was backstage how does anyone know what when on last year. Usually adults are the trouble makers because they are not getting their way. No one seemed to care that children were hurt in the process.
All of the girls who competed are to be applauded for even trying.

well I was going to enter my daughter in the pagent. was told by several people that "they knew she would win" Then There were a lot of people that said hey don't bother she wouldn't win because it is rigged." I wasn't about to let my daughter be destroyed like that. I recently moved here and I just dont think that should be the reputation that the people that put on the pagent would want. Then again if it is true they don't care. The parents, their money, and aquaintances should stay out of it!!!!!!!!!!

LMMP used to be a big deal in Marion. It seems that it isn't advertised as much these days.

I can not believe that a bunch of adults can sit around and trash a contest where kids are involved. Who cares if you think it was rigged or not! Do you not for one second think that the family members or even the little girls who participated may read this or have someone tell them what is being said. You people are adults or should be. Think about the feelings of others before trashing them. Think how you would feel if one of your family members had participated in the contest. And no before you start bashing me, I don't have a daughter nor do I know any of the little girls who participated in the event.

To the ones who say that the pageant is rigged and that the only people who win the pageant are rich, your crazy. Yes, i definetly agree that sometimes this could be the case. But you need to remember the former queens and how much TRUE talent they had. If you do, then you will remember how good they were and how sincere their attitudes were. It's sad in cases like this that the little girls who were awesome get their names ran through the mud.

To the people who say that the only people who win the pageant are those who KNOW the right people and are rich, your crazy. Yes, this could be true some of the time, but when you say this, think about the former queens. There have been some girls in the past who had TRUE talent and won. These same little girls have wonderful personality and are extremely sincere. It's a shame to think that these little girls would have their name run through the mud. Remember that next time when you decide to say these things.

ok I don't see where anyone is trash talking about any child. There is one thing I have come to notice here in marion is that trash talk is common. There are often problems with that. I was a cheerleading coach this year and the parents that I delt with were ugly people. If that says anything for the people in this place then I just don't know if I want to stay here. The way those parents acted over sports was ridiculous. It is just sports. The kids are THERE TO HAVE FUN, SO LET THEM!!!

Wow! Thanks so much for your support!! The pageant dates are June 18th and 19th. She will be doing the same routine and be better and bigger than ever before! For what's its worth... two day before the pageant I went to pick up her dress from the dry cleaners and they had shrunk her dress up three inches. They, the dry cleaners, apparently had dry cleaned it instead of steaming it and it ruined it. Thank God for my step mom who drove to South Carolina to buy Brooke's dress that she had on for the pageant! I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason! Again, thanks for all the positive comments. I was extremely proud of her and she by far is the "STAR" in my life. PROUD MOM OF CONTESTANT #9.

I suppose the six judges didn't want a replay of last year. If its based off the whole package, then the winner shouldn't have been allowed back this year.

So what did you not like about the turn out this year? Sorry yours did not place but others did and they deserve their time to shine. You can always go back next year.
