Do you realize how many people around here can't even afford to even go to Walmart and buy clothes? I have been down on my luck a few times and shopped at plenty second hand stores, or tried to. Most of what I find there is not what I'm looking for, sometimes I get lucky, but not always. Not everyone can go out and look on a certain Saturday morning so if you sell a few times a month you give more people a chance to see the items you have. I actually have better stuff than most will be able to find in a lot of the second hand stores and it's cheaper. This helps a lot of people in our county out. If you don't want to go to a yard sale, then don't go.
It's not like we are going to have a lot of people moving in because we cut down on yard sales. McDowell needs jobs, then we will be able to have less yard sales and people may actually want to be here. The county is great, having to drive to a different county for a work isn't.
i buy second hand sometimes too...i did not say i had anything against yard sales, my thoughts is maybe it will help cut down on some of the junk stands people have around town

there is people in town that have yard sales that sell great clothes and other stuff too,and yeah in some instances they sell a little to cheap

i did read some of them and someone ask why people don't have the yard sale at their own house and in most cases they sell junk that don't work so when you try to find somebody to get your money its a dead end and you lose your money

I agree with everything said here. It's our property, and can be used the way we see fit.
Maybe this new "rule" they have, is written in a way to allow a very nice little technicality.
So what exactly defines "yard sale", if it's in a parking lot... is it technically a yard? Also... what if we decide to call it a business sponsored clearance sale?
Can't count those can you City Council? It seems to me they just don't have anything to do... so they're having to find things to make up.
I'm going to start counting how many times Everette Clark's family walks their dogs on Main Street... and if they pass by First Baptist more then 5 times in a week, we're going to start issuingcitations.
Some people cannot be happy even when you have great leaders us people from Avery Co we have tryed to be nice about things of this
nature but people here are just to Dumb to know whats best for you and your County.I have even offered to help the football team and make winners out of a bunch of loosers and just so you people the offer still stands.I will be glad to fill your coolers and all cups
im sure my special salty flavor H20 will help anyone anytime no need to thank me
its just part of being a great leader.

To those of you who think that its ok for the city to limit yard sales...I couldnt agree more! Drive though almost any street in town on a Friday or Saturday morning and it looks like a scene from Sanford and Son. Marion is in bad enough shape as it is we dont't need to have people adding to it. Kudos to the city for limiting yard sales.

As your representative in Raleigh I believe that limiting yard sales is not the direction we should go with this most important issue facing us as we head into election day. These "little people" are trying to stay off welfare lines by making an honest dollar and who am I to judge them as long as they are willing to pay a 50% tax on whatever they earn. If re-elected I will go back to Raleigh and fight for the "little people" to protect their yard sales. Afterwards I'll concentrate on reducing minimum wage so that the "little people" won't be so burdened by the extra taxes that those wages bring. Remember, I'm fighting for you.

You want me to pay taxes on something that I bought and am selling for a lower price? Seriously? Start paying taxes on gifts and I will start paying taxes on things I paid for and am getting rid of. This is just crazy.

Parental Guidance, apparently you don't know the difference between "City" and "County" and you seem to be fascinated with chickenchoker, seems you have an intimate knowledge of this hobby.
