Mike, looks like the stadium got help from "citizens" of North and South Carolina. No mention of how much, if any, the state of NC helped. You be the judge:

OK I looked at the site and noted the team is not called the NC Panthers, it is called the Carolina Panthers.
I am betting people are adding the NC just because it is in NC, but it does not look to be the official name. One cannot control what people do outside the official realm.

Really though Bacon when I found out Texas trailed North Carolina in education I almost had a seizure.Pride goes before a fall.49th? Are you kidding me? Cutting education funding is bad for America and the party in power in Texas has to answer for it.How can we compete internationally while our kids are falling behind in education? I'm asking every republican on this forum.Do you favor cuts in education? Would you prefer to make cuts elsewhere? I'm not running republicans down.I just want dialogue.

Teams name is Carolina Panthers.By not excluding South Carolina the size of the fan base is increased.

<quoted text> It takes a village/society to raise a child. That's some of the most socialistic bull crap that I've ever heard.
It is just a fact of human life. You can either embrace it and work it in an efficient manner or you can deny it and have our society work in a haphazard manner.
Yes it is socialistic. But just why is some socialism so wrong? We are a social species together in a society.
You are just fighting what is natural.

Republicans as I recall Carter was ahead in all the polls on election day.REAGAN won by seven points. Not even close. You should wait until the election is over before you give up.Unless Obama has a double digit lead on election day I think he will lose.

Waco, you know you're my buddy; however, you live in Texas and you tell us about Texas and that's all good, but I can chunk a rock to the BoFA Stadium and I believe Pro and I both know more about Charlotte. Charlotte is a second rate city and sprucing up a stadium for a second rate pro football team, still doesn't mean there's parking to accommodate the stadium. A quarter of downtown needs to be razed as we speak just to accommodate people that work there. There's no where to park. That's kind of like cleaning up the inside of your house and then outside having junk cars, washing machines and grass six feet tall in your frontyard. It might look good once you get in as long as you don't have to go back out. We're on our second coliseum, Time Warner Arena, privately funded) to accommodate a last place NBA team. Last year the Bobcats were so desperate for fans they sold tickets for $5 and still over half the arena was empty. Let's face it, nobody likes losers. Now, there's talk of wanting an MLB team. We'll have to see how that one works out.
Waco, I don't like war any better than the next person; however, signing up for the military is still on a voluntary basis, no draft in place. If people are tired of wars in our country and no one signs up, then maybe they'll get the message.
As long as we have conservatives constantly fear mongering and beating the war drums, we will have war.

I am relating my experience. Since you don't teach in a government school you would know absolutely nothing of what I am talking about in regard to home schooling because you have never personally dealt with any of these kids. Why don't you provide a link? I teach Exceptional Children. How do you expect home schooling parents with a child with disabilities to know how to work with this child and the strategies used to produce the maximum results? They don't. Learning disabilities, ADHD...the parents know nothing about this except what they have read on line and cannot effectively carry out the procedures. Private Schools? Great. Send your kids. Your choice.
ADHD is a joke, an excuse for incompetent teachers who can't keep the attention of there students due to poor teaching skills. Instead of being able to get rid of the incompetent teachers due to tenure with the unions, they've come up with another bogus condition. And of course with todays society, theres a pill for that!
And I don't expect you to agree with my opinion since you need justification for your, and your fellow associates, positions.

It has nothing to do with Rush or conspiracies but when the truth comes out, you can say where you heard it first. If you keep your head out of MSNBC & Fox News's butts, you might learn something instead of regurgitating propaganda and talking points.

Waco, I know you don't have children and you don't understand that it doesn't take a "village" or "society" to raise our children. It doesn't take a village or society to get them here, normally the parents can do this on their own without help from either. This idea that everyone owes someone else for everything that happens in their life is silly. If my kid was underage and would go out and kill or hurt someone driving drunk are they going to call the automobile maker, the makers of the alcohol consumed or the roads "we didn't build", the DMV for giving them a license? As I stated in another post that Mike doesn't get, this type of reasoning means even as adults we're still using "roads we didn't build" and all that baloney, so basically we're indenturted servants because we still owe everyone else except ourselves for everything that has happened in our lives.(and that last sentence could be my longest run-on sentence to date, thank God for commas.):)
I see you still do not even understand the concept. When you figure it out, we will debate if government should be part of it.

If your kid is drinking and driving the village has members to protect the society from his dangerous behavior. That would be the police. That is part of the village. Without that part of the village, your child would be more likely to be hit by a drunk driver.
Without the village building roads, your child would have a hard time getting around. Without the village building cars, your child would have a hard time getting around.

You and your child do not live on a deserted island. We are a society. A village.

You did not actually tell us what the "it" is, so I did not hear "IT" here first.
If you wish to tell us just what in the hell you are talking about, we can give you credit for telling us first.

Bacon you don't need to hold back I know you are a good republican and I expect you to present your beliefs.I am not taking it personally.I've voted for many republicans in my life I don't think republicans are anything but voters who love their country. Some people may say i'm naive but that's how I look at it.The stadium situation simply reminded me of what Houston went through while in the process of becoming a large city.Charlotte will get where needs to be.

Arnold, I didn't call Hillary a socialist, but after over a week of lying about what happened in Libya, I will call her a liar. Why should I take Hillary's advice? She's done such a fine job brokering peace in the middle east. Looks like they don't want her telling them how to it takes a village to raise their children or run their countries. I know the Clintons have the "village" mentality, because Bill had a roll in the hay with every woman in their village.
I guess I do not watch enough right wing media. Please tell us what Hillary lied about with Libya?

Oh yes I can. I had my bath in a the water I carried from the creek and heated up and used the lye soap which is all natural. I just finished cooking one of the chickens we raised that I killed and plucked yesterday. Cooked it in a big ole black kettle outside over an open fire. Cooked them arsh potatoes we raised, and made stuffing out of the corn we grew and ran through the corn mill powered by water. Just before putting on clothes I made by hand from the cotton we grew and picked and we'll be having church at home. Home schooled my daughter and she's the local doctor that will be making house calls in her buggy we made pulled by a horse. Also, finished coloring my hair with henna made from the plants we raised.
Can you refute anything I just said? Plenty of people live this way.
Most of the people who live this way in America are Amish. They work together as a village in ways you evidently cannot comprehend.
You do not live like this, you live in a society. Now start coming to terms with this fact please. You do not live in the mountains in total isolation. If you do, then you do not pay taxes. So the issue of government participating in the concept of "it takes a village to raise a child" is moot.

Is it possible to raise a child in total isolation from a village or receive any help from a village? Yes, but it is very, very, very rare. Even the people who live in isolation occasionally come to the village to get help for a few things. Medical needs likely top the list.
Those who live in such isolation surely have a high mortality rate.

I realize it is the conservative dream to live in such barbaric conditions, but the rest of us are not down for that.

You can chose to live off the grid, no one is stopping you. But the reality is, you live in a village. Start dealing with reality.

Republicans don't want education. If people are educated, the Republican Party will become obsolete. And sometimes you have to wonder if it's not already.

My youngest daughter was "diagnosed" by her 70 year old second grade govt school teacher as having ADHD. The Principal even suggested we have her checked by a qualified physician....in order to protect his teacher. After a trip to the doctor, even he diagnosed her as such. Ignoring the doctors advice with using medications, we enrolled her in private school,(where she was backed up a grade due to the lack of education provided by the public school), and she has thrived ever since. No medication needed, just a no-nonsense professor who knows how to teach, not baby sit!

Republicans want education, just NOT education unions that protect the bad teachers and prevent them from being replaced with good qualified young teachers.
