OK genius, I am open to new information and perspectives. Exactly how did unions cause the third highest unemployment in the USA (NC) when we have the lowest unionization in the USA?
How did Caldwell labor unions cause one of the highest unemployment rates in NC when there are no labor unions in Caldwell?
How did labor unions in Scotland county cause the 3 rd highest unemployment in NC with no unions even present there?
Why is unemployment lower in states like Ak and NY which have extensive unionization?
Here are your facts:
1.State with the lowest union membership in the USA--North Carolina
2. North Carolina average unemployment 9.4%-tied with SC for 46th &47 th worse unemployment in the USA.
3. Caldwell County unemployment 11.6 % no labor unions , 1 Furniture Manufacturers Association (union)
4. Scotland County unemployment 17.6%-- no unions

You can be for the democrats and I will be for the republicans. That is our bipartisanship.
Right, like all democrats do not have a family they support?

You would win that bet because republicans do not have the corner on greed, they have just defined themselves that way.
Why would any company directors and officers want to locate in an area known for its uneducated, unskilled minimum wage workforce, contaminated water, polluted air, unfunded schools, incompetent law enforcement, ignorant arrogant myopic state legislators and intolerant neighbors.
Some of my suggestions: Improve the quality of life here by 1. improving public schools by hiring more teachers and slashing administrative fluff. 2. improve water quality and air quality with sensible but meaningful regulations 3. Forming cooperatives to make workers comp affordable to small business. 4. reorganize the SBI crime lab to make it independent of prosecutor influence 5. Organize and fund community colleges to teach the skills needed by local industry 6 fund our universities and research centers to maintain our reputation and lead high tech innovation 6. educate state legislators in issues and information known to the 21 century so they will stop trying to return NC to the 19 th century.

TSF, besides blaming the Repubs for all the problems in N.C. because I'd be willing to bet that many a Democrat made money from jobs sent overseas in NC just as the Repubs; what do you suggest would help NC and it's high unemployment rate? I know you're first answer will be vote all Dems in to office, but after that, what do you suggest?

Republican bullshit is right. NC has one of the highest unemployment rates and the lowest union membership. Caldwell County has one of the highest unemployment in NC and is void of any union membership other than the furniture manufacturers association members who owned the factories.. Republicans have been in control for the last 50 years and have been very busy driving away diversification and at the same time shipping jobs to China. The retarded commissioners have actually been giving them incentives to move factories to China. Now we hear from republicans that the non existent evil unions are the blame for unemployment. That is after years of furniture manufactures here labeling their furniture in northern stores "union made" when it actually was made in minimum wage sweatshops. Some argue that isn't true because after a person worked for them 25 years, they would actually give him a nickel per hour raise above minimum wage. Their generosity is underwhelming. Then they and their POS suck up lackies sit at the country club opining about how sorry and lazy the people who made a fortune for them are.
<quoted text>
I was speaking of the U.S. in general, not just NC. NC is a right to work state. Low private union membership in the state just proves that when you give an employee the choice, they chose non-union.
Last time I check, this is the first time Republicans have controlled Congress in NC in the last hundred years so you can give blame where it's due.....to the democrats.
Again, I never said unions are solely responsible for unemployment but they are a big reason why companies have moved jobs elsewhere.
As fat as someone working for 25 years only to recieve a nickle raise, thats their own fault!

Robert, this is the kind of response you get when you argue with dishonest fools. They first misrepresent your position then point to selective facts to prove you wrong. They ignore any fact that does not support their argument. Trying to debate them is futile. They are only cheering for their team, just like a high scohool kid. This is no more than entertainment to them and in their small minds they think they are saving the world from evil Nazi Racsist Republicans.

TSF, you have some good ideas I agree with and some I disagree with. I don't think because someone is uneducated they aren't capable of performing skilled labor. For instance, welding is skilled labor, pays well and if learned by observing and hands on experience this can be a skill that makes pretty good money and there is a demand for welders and fabricators. My husband is a building contractor and from my knowledge, not everyone can be a brick mason (or a good one), the same goes for drywall hangers etc. An education is always a good foundation, but it doesn't mean a person can't perform a job, make decent money without having one. I don't know if you've had a bad experience with the SBI, but my dealings have always been in the best interest of the victim. You speak of incompetence of law enforcement, in the city I live in, a person working at McDonalds makes what our law enforcement officers do, so you get what you pay for. I have a well, so I can't speak to the problem of our state's contaminated water. We need better education in our state and I think a voucher system would help and you're right, admin shouldn't outnumber teachers. I'm running out of space, but I could go on.
