For one when any hospital system takes over a maw-paw office there is always a lot of change. Some for the good and some for the bad. Most peopl do not realize that maybe the changes were things not being done correctly by the office prior to the merge. As far as billing is concerned, any one that has any COMMON sense would ask for a receipt the day of their visit that itemizes their charges, match it to their insurance remittance and then of course the bill. Then you have an argument. If you are in the right then you have nothing to worry about, you have indeed a leg to stand on. most offices have a billing office now and do not handle the everyday billing processes, thus is why you may be referred to a billing office about your bill. As far as providers moving from one system to another. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT before posting LIES. If you don't know the facts then you don't know the truth there is ALWAYS two sides to every story.....

Posting "LIES", really? Looks like you have anger issues.
This topic is in regards to the problems I have seen & want to know if others are seeing the same, especially since I like the new Doctor there. Instead of getting all pi$$y why don't you get your billing straight?! The da#n office shows we owe nothing yet that can't be communicated to the billing office & the office has given us paperwork showing it. Why don't you try to understand the entire story before telling me that my situation is a lie? I guess you have trust issues along with those anger issues.
...you obviously work there & have gotten some kind of flack for this...just a guess...

Hope it's not Dr O'Hara that you like, just found out Friday is her last day. Too many changes on too little time, I will be finding a new office for my children.

I heard Mission doctors will be filling in there - so no one will actually be there on a permanent basis. Has anyone heard that?

Dr. O'hara is only temporary.

It wasn't a Ma and Pop business to start. Billing was being run by The Mcdowell Hospital, but have to agree that any change in system could led to errors. If you can't get any satifaction go the Mcdowell hospital administration office and talk to them, give them specifics and don't leave until you have a answer.

For one I was not talking about the billing issue being a LIE, I was speaking of the rumors about the providers there and reasonings behind leaving and the office structure. There are billing issues with EVERY medical office whether it be at the office itself, at the insurance company or the billing office and I hope everyone realizes that. Just do as I suggested and you will be fine. No I don't have anger issues and am not a @#$%% person. I just wished people would post the facts before slandering people and things they have no idea about. If you want to know about something call or ask and get it from the horses mouth itself no from some web forum or poll. Remember don't burn bridges if you don't have to never know when you may need them to walk across again.

Just trying to give some guidance...

If you are this un-satisfied maybe you do need to try another office. Just saying but all offices do have some form of issues no one is perfect but the good Lord above.

Yes, they're billing is ridiculous. Being a very low income family due to my employment cutting hours. He had medicaid once he was born... for some reason they keep sending me a bill for $985! Just for first shots. They eventually dropped it to $485 but I'm still not paying it... I'm sure his medicaid was supposed to cover it. I was also on medicaid before and after pregnancy so I don't understand why the office clerks can't look at the copy of his card and not have to ask the very patient parents for it every time I get a bill. Now supposedly bill collectors will be trying to collect it because the head of office could not fix it after I called about it four times.

If you have Medicaid, is it even legal for them to bill you (except for circumcision)? I would look into it. If it's not, that's a violation they could pay greatly for through The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Servies and coukd also lose their funding. It might just be billing fraud.

Unfortunately, the billing problems are not the fault of the offices, but the fault of Mission Hospitals billing service. The problem lies within them. The offices in McDowell and other communities are losing business because of it, however and that's sad because they can do nothing about it cant do anything about it. When their parent company says they must demand money because the patient owes it, they have to do as they are asked. At that point, the blame appears to be on the rice when it is really not. It's unfortnate for our community offices and their employees. Patients, however, can only deal with it for so long.
