About 5 years ago I met a man through a trading times ad for some car parts I had. I also needed some for an old Honda I had. We met in downtown Marion and from there we drove on a state two lane road to a junkyard that was full of old Hondas. Maybe went 12-20 miles? I do remember passing through a county line sign but can't remember what county we went into. The owner of the junk yard lived in a single wide mobile home in the middle of the yard and was an older gentleman in his 50's or 60's. If any of of you even have a clue to where I was at I would appreciate any help you can give me in finding this place. Thank You!

I cannot think of a place like that right off hand. There is one salvage yard that is right off highway 70 west about a mile past Lowe's called Import Auto Salvage and Rusty's Pick A Part. There used to be a junkyard off of 70 east maybe 1.5 or 2 miles past the McDowell county lime in Burke County close to Glen Alpine though I haven't been there in many years.c

Looking at a map this this morning I see it's about the same distance to Burke on 70 E as it is to Rutherford on 221 S. Hard call to make here but I think you might have it with the one in Burke. Thanks for the names of the other two places. I'll Google their #'s and see if they have the parts I need. When I think about it, the guy I'm looking for had so many old Hondas (even mid 70's models) that surely the other local yards will have some available.

Hmmm.....Could you elaborate about what " old hurst " and "Ray Roland means please?

Again. thanks so much for both of your inputs! I can also be reached at the handle I use here @ Hotmail.com

Ray Roland's place is off of McKinney Road. If you are traveling from out of Marion on I-40, it is 1 to 1.5 miles off of exit 81. There is a new Wall Mart directly off of the exit. Go up the hill on Sugar Hill Road to the first traffic signal, which will be about .5 miles depending on if you got off of the east or west bound exit. Take a left on Veteran's Drive at the first light and McKinney Road will be on the left on another .5 mile or so. If you reach the National Guard or Sheriff's Dpt. you have went just a little too far.
Not sure, but I do not remember seeing much import stuff at Ray's, except for what may be getting crushed.
Import Auto Salvage/Rusty's has lots of import stuff, but mostly late 90's on up, with a bit of domestic stuff thrown in.
There is also J+T, which is only another quarter mile past the road for Import Auto Salvage on 70 West. B&H is on 70 East on the east side of town, probably 5 miles from Main Street in Marion. Both of these are way more inclined to have domestic parts, especially 4x4 parts.
Good luck!
