Does anyone know of a good high-end contractor in the area? I have heard the name in conversation of a guy by the name of Bobby Honeycutt, maybe? And John Hughes as well. If anyone knows of a good honest, dependable and reliable local contractor would you please post the name so I will able to get in touch.

You got to be out of you goard. You better ask around before you believe what you have heard. Anyone can get a contractors license around here. Check the courthouse for all the judgements against the first name. Nightmare is an understatement.

I appreciate the information. Not out of my head, don't live there all the time and having a house built and someone gave me those names in conversation. Just wondering if anyone locally had or knew if anyone had any work done by these men is all and if they did quality work. Thanks again, I will check the courthouse records. Thank you!

Check for history of drug use and reputation with former customers. I cannot understand why anyone with the price of a license can be a licensed contractor. Those issuing license should be liable. It seems that morals and reputation mean nothing to the agencies that license these losers. Last time I checked he had nearly 20 judgement against him for faulty work and varies other things.

Wow the state or county must not do background checks on these people. Guess it's all politics. I appreciate the information. Will have to tell my friend they need to do some checking on his friend Bobby Honeycutt. He should not be reccomending someone who has a work history as that. Guess I'll have to look in surrounding counties. Looks like the guy would be in jail. I was told he was still in the building business.

Thanks! Will do that when the land sale is final. Appreciate it greatly. I want someone I can trust and not have to worry about when I'm not there in town. Just wondering does this guy still build? Has the BBB not tried to shut his business down?

Duh ! Best thing to do is check with those who have had dealings with them. Ask for references and check them out. Do not depend on the Chamber of Commerce or the Insp. Office. Check with the Clerk of Courts Office. Several contractors have judgements against. Selecting a contractor is worth taking your time and really check his record yourself. Half of these people are kin to one another or connected in other ways. The trade is full of crooks.

One of the best contractors is Gary Poteat of 7th street in Clinchfield. He's done many jobs for us and we have been very pleased with his performance and with the cost. His imagination is amazing when designing either a porch, deck or building a house.
We would highly recommend him.
