The Superintendent has played down the importance of our school system accreditation. The report given at the board meeting included this from our Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Garrett, he stated “Our accreditation status is safe at this point but we do have some things we need to address,” said Garrett, before explaining that probation simply meant the school would be reviewed again sooner than it typically would be" However look at what AdvancEd the accrediting body says at www.advanc-ed.org There are four accreditation statuses that may be conferred on a school/
school system as a result of an External Review. The accreditation status is based on the performance of a school/school system in areas related to the accreditation standards, policies, assurances,
student performance results, and stakeholder feedback. No provisions
in Policy III prevent a school’s/school system’s accreditation status from being changed upon a different time line established
due to the findings of a special investigation and/or possible subsequent monitoring reviews.
a.Accredited
b.Accredited On Advisement
c.Accredited Warned
d.Accredited Probation

We scored the lowest possible and still maintain accreditation. Its time for this school board and us as staff of the system to come together and get rid of these that are ruining our school system

Unbelievable. At least with Trollinger we were accredited with out the possibility of losing the accreditation, here we now have the possibility of losing it if we don't soon get an administration that knows what they are doing.

Everyone wanted Trollinger gone and now they see what they are getting. As a Parent I didn't always agree with everything Trollinger did but he was really for what is best for the children and was for the staff. I didn't vote for some of the members that are on this board. Just remember next November there will be four board seats up for election and its time McDowell County put some people in there that care for the children.

For those graduating from the high school if they lose accreditation then have tougher time getting in college

what I don't understand is why everyone is letting this pass, this is serious and no one seems to care.

No one takes it serious or seems to care because, it's Marion and McDowell County. Lived there first 29 years of my life. Moved to Morganton and the same damn thing happened with threat of losing accreditation. It is a serious situation.
