Okay....let me get this straight. He's going to be paid about 65 k a year to be a secretary possibly in the athletic office-when it was announced MCS is getting a reduction in funds to an already poorly funded school system that has had to dismiss teachers and give people pink slips to their jobs not to mention a cut in classes such as Animal Science and many other programs at the high school. Please, please explain this to me. I am not against Mr.Blackmon but can our school system really afford one? I mean isn't there a gym teacher or teacher that is already on the pay roll that could coach? Is sports really so much more than academics? I anticipate some hate from this but listen-this is my children's school system as much as it is everyone else's and I am tired of seeing things cut and hearing about money woes when the school system is living outside its means.

Marion High has always thrown caution to the wind when it comes to basketball coaches. I suspect that they sell enough tickets to pay most of the additional cost but it is not fair to "regular" teachers to have coaches who are deemed to be talented in their area of specialty paid so much more than equally gifted teachers in other subjects.

I agree with you! I went to school with James and he was NOT making good grades so I really wander how he got to play b-ball anyways...oh yeah...I know.
