It is really hard to follow the 5-7pm hours for Trick or Treating when most working parents don't get off until 5. By the time you pick up the kids at Day Care & get home, get them dressed in their costumes, and try to get some real food down them before all the candy it's gonna be after 7 before you even get out the door! These hours need to be adjusted, or move Trick or Treating to a Saturday night every year.

Thank goodness the government provides me information on when and how to trick or treat. As an adult I don't know if I could get by without these helpful hints.

It would be hard to follow the 5 - 7 rules simply because some costumes take that long to put together.

But I'd like to add that I think it's a shame parents have to be told to use common sense in caring for thier children. I think the children would do better if they read this article rather than depending on their parents being real parents. Granted, not all parents are bad but soooooo many could give a hoot, send 'em out the door and say have fun. Not knowing what they're doing, who's creeping around in a car watching them and trying to pick out which one they want to take. Or if they're taking part in mischief.

5-7? Are you kidding me? What happened to the normal hours of 6-9? Is it really that unsafe in Marion County now?

5-7??? That is certainly not enough time for all these kids to fill their bags w/ delicious candy. That just means I am going to have "BAG SNATCH" twice as many kids this year!

We will not be passing out candy to anyone except neighborhood kids after 7:00. We've tired of doling out candy to ghetto kids trucked in from surrounding 'hoods! Stay in your own neighborhood, folks!!!! Then you can get your trick-or-treating done b/w 5:00 and 7:00! It's all that driving to the "rich" areas that takes so long...

I don't have kids, but I love Halloween! Too bad I won't get home from work in time to be able to hand out much candy... What moron set the time from 5-7pm. Good idea, lets have the kids on the streets for rush hour traffic...

5-7? I won't even get home from work and picking up the kids and dinner until 6:30...I hope Hendricks County is a little more open with the trick or treating times...

5-7? are you serious? i have a day care in my home and those kids won't leave until 6!

i see no real harm in parents driving their kids to other neighborhoods especially if their own isn't as nice or as safe. however; i do have a problem with the kids who chose not to wear a costume, are about 15 years old and knock on your door after 8:30 or 9 p.m. with a pillow case wanting candy. where are their parents????

Last year our neighbor who is a security guard stayed in his vehicle to watch out for the kids. Hope he does it again this year. Its a shame the world has changed so much in the past decade, I remember having a great time trick or treating. Lord I feel old and I am only 43.

I guess it will be 6-8 at our house. I understand the reason for trick or treating during daylight, but I don't think I'm going to leave work early to hand out candy...

Why doesn't Indpls consider doing what has become common up here? The towns & villages each set their own T&T hours. Most designate either the Sunday or Saturday before Halloween as the day and the T&T hours are normally from 4-7 or 5-8. It works really well for most families & for adults who just enjoy seeing the kids.

I will sleep much better knowing that Mayor Peterson's police department is mandating hours for Halloween in Marion County. Working parents like me cannot expect to get home, help our children into costumes and start trick or treating by 5 p.m. You must be kidding me. Another example of Indianapolis' leadership not having a real world view of life and events.

I agree. I hate it when those Meridian-Kessler ghetto kids are trucked up to my neighborhood in Carmel.

I'm with you, I hope the towns in Hendricks County don't get any bright ideas from Marion County. What a crock! After work, dinner, & getting costumes on, we never get out the door before 6:30.

I'd like to know where MK res. lives, needs her windows soaped and a lit poop bomb left on her porch. Just give out your candy and turn off the light when it's gone.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Scorpio

It will be easy to let things get on top of you today, especially if you're already feeling rather tired and listless. Do yourself a favor and keep away from anyone who often makes you feel a bit fed up or defensive, because they're the last person you want to be around at the moment. They'll make your spirits sink down to your ankles in a flash, and who needs that?
