What is the status on the STAR Bond development?
What is going up?
When?
Butler say anything lately?
Press Release

Geneseo, IL

#2 Dec 18, 2012
A press release from City Hall suggests that any further details related to the STAR Bond District, in Marion, will be forthcoming during Butler's next election cycle.

Further, the press release states, that should Butler have no one run against him during the next election cycle - there will be no further news, information or development of any nature regarding Marion's STAR Bond project.

Additionally, in the event that there IS someone who runs against Butler in the next cycle - the release indicates that the STAR Bond Development will be fully occupied and operational by next Thursday afternoon - and that Butler has found a cure for cancer.

— that is all...

You know you are a loser if you have to turn to Topix to get the news.

The Southern did a report a few days ago on the lack of development. Local politicians claim that it is still a ‘go’ but the developer has now quit talking. Very suspicious, if you ask me. They’ll probably cut their losses and pull out if nothing takes shape within the next year or so. How long are they willing to sit on an empty piece of land is the question.

I have my doubts that this thing will ever take off like they said it would. Sure, you may get a few chain restaurants and a big box store out there at some point, but I doubt it will ever become a tourist destination.

Larry Flint wanted to put a Hustler Club across from Menard's. Would have employed 100 of Southern Illinois' women plus another 50 support staff, bar tenders, security, etc. First years revenue estimated at $2.7 million. City killed it. At least thats what i heard.

The latest press release from City Hall indicates that there aren't any further details related to the STAR Bond District, in Marion.

That release made public outside of the immediate Marion area, was followed by the following press release made available for the local flock of "sheep-folks" living in and around the immediate area - who remain brain washed by the Butler cabal:

Baaaah bah baaah, baaaah bahhhh, baaah, bah, bah, bah, baaaaah.

THE ILLINOIS STAR BOND LEGISLATION WAS SIGNED INTO LAW IN OCT 2010.

ACCORDING TO DOCUMENT, COMPANIES MOST BEGIN BUILDING WITHIN 3 YEARS --- BEFORE OCT 2013 -- OR ELSE THE AGREEMENT EXPIRES WITH THE STATE OF ILLINOIS.

Here are some thoughts for you all to chew on:

As Butler previously stated that there were numerous companies interested, and that confidentiality agreements had been signed, I would assume that once the FEDERAL and STATE political changes are fully in place and the Fiscal Cliff and its tax changes are made for 2013....we will see an announcement from Butler (if any) by the end of the first quarter in 2013. In summary, if something major is coming or if the big-box retailers decide to back out...it will be announced by late March.

Now, my opinion....

No Bass Pro, No Cabella's....Maybe a small-sized Gander Mountain. Think of the fact that the Panera and Logan's are both the smallest-sized stores that those chains have to offer. The numbers are just not in Southern Illinois to support something big.

Too many risks.

There is also too much risk in Southern Illinois region. Potential Risks: additional mines shut down with EPA regulations headed that way, Crisp sells out to Pepsi Corporate, more businesses lay-off or contract because of Obamacare changes, State and Federal issues, etc,

But what was Vegas before they built the first casino? Or Florida before Disney? If you build it they will come.

you're right, of course. All BS from the very beginning. What intrigues me is how this same line of horsehockey works every time...

Does not sound too promising.

My son-in-law is from the area and notes that they have put an incredible amount of money into a few interchanges that will probably not be worth the Federal & State investment $$ when the dust settles.

To "business" yes they have invested heavily in interchanges, but that will not help. The issue I have seen with towns in Southern Illinois is they claim they want jobs, yet when jobs are on the cusp, they scare them away instead of doing everything in their power to make them a reality.

How do they scare them away? I'm actually asking a serious question. I'm looking for examples
