What will happen to unemployment in southern Illinois and marion in particular if Obama wins? Any businesses in particular?

We already have very high unemployment and can't afford him lollygagging in the White House and holding up business for another 4 years.

Look closer at state and local pols than federal. Quinn and Madigan has more power over this area than most realize.

Potentially much higher unemployment. I am considering moving my business to Cape in the 2nd quarter of 2013. Illinois is riddled with debt and they'll make people like me and my wife pick up the tab. Wrong.

That too. There is just a lot of risk in the business environment of southern Illinois right now. We are planning for several scenarios, but we are banking on troubled times ahead. We will see I suppose....

Just a heads up, Obama or Romney, the EPA is writing up a ton of regulation in haste as we spea right now to tighten down the coal industry. I feel foryou guys in the coal industry. The government is on a witch hunt. This will affect everyone in general in this area too. Will the last one out of southern Illinois please turn out the lights.

It's not good folks.

The writing is on the wall.

Everyone just shrugs their shoulders and stays here to be with aged relatives and loved ones who think the 90s will reappear. I say that because i was in that position until the my aging father just passed. Very sad as those who stay here will be the ones to pay for all of Springfield and Chicago's debt.

Quality, values, and culture are all in decline.

The IDOT interchange and TIF district will not fix the core issues.

If you are a family person like me, this will not be a prosperous place for my son to raise a family in 5 to 10 years. Most go-getters his age are moving away. It breaks my heart, but it is the environment we live in. Chicago made our bed, and we have to lie in it.

Survival of the fittest, feast or famine. Call it what you want, but everyone needs to be agile these days.

....even if that means moving away from Marion.

people that stay will live on welfare or some kind of stipend for caring for their parents in true Illinois welfare state life.
As this trash sinks into the cesspools lets hope that the eventuality will actually be jobs for this trash instead of the hard working class having to support them on welfare

Well, looks like we can all kiss the Boulder Creek plans goodbye.....or at least plan A.

I can see a very watered-down Plan B carrying out. Still wont do enough to get real organic business growth going. I better start making a list of people I know in Missouri.

What do y'all think?

I'll tell you what I think.

Now that Obama is elected, I'll be making some phone calls tomorrow that I did not want to make. Gonna have to let a young hardworking, honest 27 year old go by the end of the month. We had hired him a year ago anticipating changes in the political climate. Not going to be fun. He has a wife working part time and two baby girls.

You certainly seem to have an attitude prophylactic face. Now I will explain this to you. Companies are getting rid of employees or cutting them back to part time status over the Obamacare mess. Actually Obamacare wouldn't be an issue save for trash like you expecting others to pay your health care for you.
Here is a surprise for you though. In foreign countries they generally have a two tiered health care system. There is the public sector giving health care for all, but there are also facilities for those that face their responsibilities and pay for their care.
Take a trip to a foreign facility and see yoour future. I recently saw a Mexican public facility for example. Yuk! Try and get a pet scan on a timely basis in Canada. Like it or not you will always be a loser regardless of who is president. You see, once a loser always a loser and your so called president could care less about you...he's playing golf today

The war on coal will not only eliminate mining jobs it will cause utility costs to rise meaning other companies will find it cheaper to offshore their production facilities. It amounts to just more and more jobs being lost. Why people can not see this is beyond me but I guess it doesn't matter when half the people are living off the government one way or another

The mere fact that we are focusing on all of this is embarrassing.

Facts are facts.

It is agreed by all that Marion IL is not going to prosper in the future.

yes and places weren't laying people off in droves long before Obamacare. You fail to forget what a mess your buddies on wall street put this country in. You know nearly collapsing our entire economy because of their greed. But yes of course it's Obamas fault. So you and your corporate republican buddies can go fuck yourselves
