I went to a martial arts tournament today. A student from Khouries was there. I have never seen such disrespect from a black belt as I did today. This guy was there at least 30 minutes ahead of time. I saw him sitting on the bleachers with his girlfriend on his lap. But when it was time to check in for the first competition, he tried to check in with out a uniform on. Come on! If you checking in, it time to compete.
As he stood there with is iPod in his ears and street close on, the ring judge was putting together the competition bracket not understanding he was a competitor. When he told the ring judge he was in that division for that competition, the ring judge had to tear up the bracket and start over. He asked this guy, "where's your uniform?" He said in his bag. He was told to get it on, quick. He walked over and talked to his friends for a while, then grabbed his bag and went to the locker room. We waited and waited. Getting more frustrated, the ring judge starting putting together a new bracket with this new guy in it. He drew the first match but of course he wasn't there. The judges moved that match to the end and started with out him.
After the first match, the ring judge saw him stranding off to the side. He asked if he was going to join us. He said he doesn't do form. What! Then why did he try to check in?
So this guy caused the tournament to be at least 20 minutes behind schedule and he didn't even seem to be apologetic. To top it off, he never said "sir" when talking to the 6th DAN ring judge.
It this would have been a tournament put on by my school, I would have asked him to leave.

My son has been wanting to get into karate or some other teaching, who are some of the better instructors? I am willing to travel 45-50 miles if need be.

That is the character of people today, because they are always allowed to get away with bad behavior starting at home, then school..PC has ruined our country. If i were the judge i would have disqualified him right on the spot !

Where did this take place? Because it sounds like classic CMA. Those wanna be guys think they are the shit. The instructor is the ONLY guy who actually knows his stuff.
