East China Schools are the most overpaid school district in the entire area!

The fact that East China allows teachers with only a bachelor's degree to be paid over $70,000 is insane!

What is even more insane is the way East China instantly gives a huge pay boost to an employee the instant he or she receives as master's degree.

This motivates East China teachers to try and get hired with only a bachelor's degree. Then, during the summer vacation, the teachers go to college in order to work towards their master's degree. After several summers of doing this, the teachers instantly receveive a huge boost in pay. This is not fair to taxpayers!

What is even worse is the way racism is involved with the East China school district.

Compare the number of white teachers to the number of African American teachers, especially in the Marine City schools. You will see there is no comparison to be made!

Many teachers with 10, 15, and 18 years experience have applied for jobs as teachers in the East China School district. Some of these teachers had master's degrees and even doctorate degrees. Yet these African Americans were not hired to work in the East China school district. Instead, East China chose to hire rookie employees that just recently graduated with bachelor's degrees.

The question is: Why did this happen?

There are two answers:

1. Racism.

Racism definitely exists in the East China school district, particularly Marine City. We know that the high-paying jobs in the East China school district draws a lot of attention from teachers all across the state. This is particularly true with schools that recently closed due to funding problems in the metro-detroit area. When those black teachers apply for jobs, the chances of being hired to work as a teacher at a Marine City school are virtually nonexistent.

One person brought this subject up at a recent meeting I attended. The response from a Marine City employee was very disturbing. He said, "There's not many black people that live in Marine City." Thankfully, several people stood up and said "Maybe there would be more African Americans living here if they had the same high-paying jobs you did!"

As you know, there really are an increasing number of African American families in Marine City. It isn't fair for all those students to be forced to deal entirely with white teachers, especially when the young white teachers aren't as experienced and aren't as educated as the black teachers that applied for those same jobs.

2. References

Simply put, the key to being hired in the East China school district is what employees call "Connections."

What they really mean is who you know and who is willing to provide that "Reference" on paper.

The East China school district human resources and management staff care far more about References from existing employees than they do successful Experience and qualified Education! This is unethical and very disappointing!

For example, take a look at the large number of employees at Marine City high school that were hired fresh out of college with just a bachelor's degree and very little experience. These current Marine City employees were competing for jobs against much more qualified employees with black skin -- African Americans that possess years of experience and master's degrees. But the young and inexperienced Marine City employees were hired instead because they had References from existing employees -- particularly the coaches they were friends with.

This cannot be allowed to continue. At the meeting I attended, a man said two coaches have it set up so their kids will be hired by the East China school district as soon as they graduate college. In fact, I was told that their kids may even take their spots because that is when they will be retiring with 30 years on the staff! It's just like, you help me, I help you later.

High rates of pay, racism, and unfair methods of hiring associated with references cannot be allowed to continue!

The teachers need to follow this example and take a large cut in pay.

Teachers in East China school district literally are paid over twice what teachers in other school districts are paid!
