Joel Seddon of St. Clair is very different than Anthony Scarcelli of Marine City. Joel Seddon is a humble team player who is a leader both on the field and off the field. Anthony Scarcelli of Marine City is NOT a humble person and he is NOT a leader off the field. I noted this during the first football game of 2010 when Anthony Scarcelli was suspended for violating team rules off the field.

But, focusing on the team is not what matters most to me. Focusing on myself and the amount of brownie points I can earn for me and my family members and friends is what counts most to me. Just look how Jim Whymer, editor of the Times Herald, had a son hired by Marine City because of all the butt-kissing the editor did. Those coaches gave his son the references needed to get hired. In the East China school district, if you don't have references like that you don't get hired, even if you have a master's degree or a doctorate with decades of experience. If Jim's son gets to have that type of reward in the form of a job that pays over $70,000 to a teacher with only a bachelor's degree, why shouldn't I?

Even though the Marine City football players (the ones who know best) didn't vote Anthony Scarcelli as Team MVP on either Offense or Defense, the Marine City head football coach named Tony Scarcelli (yea, his dad) chose his son Anthony as the team's nominee for Best Player in the Area. THAT IS BIAS and NEPOTISM!...

And what's worse is that Scarcelli says "Any of the assistants could have spoken up if they didn't agree." This tells me all the MC assistants have no guts and they believe FAVORITISM is alright!

In the Times Herald poll, we saw that Marine City's Anthony Scarcelli was voted only #8. And when you look at the statistics of each player, we saw that Ryan Fabbri of Cros-Lex had FAR BETTER stats than Anthony Scarcelli. But Paul Costanzo claims that "Anthony Scarcelli was the best player I saw (during times when he wasn't suspended) all year long."

Paul, I wonder if that is because you insist on personally covering Marine City more than any other team! Costanzo admitted teams from smaller schools have ZERO chance of receiving any award from him because he never personally sees them play! And whenever Anthony Scarcelli didn't do well (every time Marine City played someone good) Costanzo was stupid enough to believe the MC coach that "My son was injured this week."

It's also sad that Costanzo's rookie mind was dumb enough to say "All-State honors were another reason I made my decision." But what Costanzo doesn't realize is that All-State in football is different than in Track or Wrestling. In Track or Wrestling if you win the state title as an individual, you are all-state! In football, it isn't like that!

In football, all you need to do is have your coach say "This is one of the few players in the history of America to be on varsity since he was a freshman." The moment you say that, you've sold the other coaches on voting that player as "All-State." That's the WHOLE REASON why his biased dad put him on varsity as a freshman!

The Times Herald award for Best Player in the Area means NOTHING now that we know it comes ONLY from Paul Costanzo, and we know he has already decided to give it to Anthony Scarcelli for 2011. I heard the video online and it is sickening the way Costanzo already decided who gets that online award before the season has even started.
