Letters: Charter schools are solution

Full story: Monterey County Herald

Thanks to a solid, professional, caring superintendent and compliance with the No Child Left Behind law, I had the opportunity to attend the informative public meetings held about the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District.

re: Monterey High Acting As A Bad Neighbor

Are you serious? When I went to Monterey High in the 70's it was understood that "someday" home games would be held at MHS under lights. Back then the school population was well over 1,000. We were parking our cars everywhere. Sure, the neighbors didn't like it. They, like you, should not have purchased a home within a stones throw of the school. if they were unwilling too accept a life style that goes along with living so close to a high school. You should be happy for these kids. I'll assume that at some point in your life you went to a high school. Go back (in you mind) to those days ant think about how this treatment would have affected you. If you still feel the same way, move. Park Lane, Del Mesa Carmel and many other local retirement homes hare full of wonderful people. And then you won't have to put up with a situation that bothers you so much. Until then, quit wining.

Our home is directly uphill form the Monterey High campus. We hear the morning announcements, the class change signal, the pep rallies, and we see the new stadium lights shining through our windows. This is called Living In Town. There are rural areas we have lived in and could move back to if we did not want to see and hear these things. God Bless the next generation! They deserve our support and patience.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
