The Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners (Tim Lee) has decided to keep Brian Frist, the Chief Medical Examiner, despite a horrible internal audit and evidence that he has made mistakes that have resulted in lost lives. The commissioners will be voting on this in 2 months. Please read cobbme.com for the facts, and write to the commissioners. Your email could make the difference.

This is really worth looking at! why are we paying this guy $500,000.00 a year?!
Everything on the site seems legit. THIS is the person that decides if a crime is a murder? Not good, Cobb County.

Tim Lee once again decides that only his opinion matters.

What happens to open murder cases if the ME is fired?

Curiosity killed the cat, or at least cemented the fact he commute a crime.

They are still murder / homicide cases, why would anything change? The medical examiner does not change who the murderer was, who the victim is, or all the evidence leading up to the homicide.

Are you concerned because you have committed a crime? Do you have a lawyer? As a lawyer, I would advise you not to be posting or searching the internet under ANY circumstances. You only add more nails to your coffin, so to speak.

Actually, what I was curious about-for open cases- would the previous ME testify ? And if so, Would his credibility be called into question, or is there an "unwritten rule" that you respect their expertise even if they were fired for incompetence? Maybe that's up to the judge without the jury present?

Would his previous rulings on cause/manner of death be reviewed?

The previous medical examiner could be called to testify, but more than likely the higher, state ME office intervenes in high profile cases if the ME is under duress (Cobb) to ensure authenticity.

No worries, JRH is going to pay for his crime in the death of son Cooper, just as any other criminal would in Cobb. The former ME could be called into question, but it is highly unlikely given the mountain of other evidence related to the case. The defense attorney for JRH would be wise not to take the route in which you are referring.

Gotcha. So the "unwritten rule" in that case would be:

Don't be argumentative if it doesn't gain you anything

I am curious about how the April Jenkins/Erica Beaubrun situation would change -if it would change. It looks to me that those autopsies could be reviewed. Currently, they are natural causes and accident respectively, but could be accident and homicide.

Would anyone in government push for that, or do they just want it to go away?

As it stands, families can sue, collect life insurance, etc. the medical board took action, but the DA didn't or can't.

I think those are the rulings that are putting him "under duress".

This guy has ruled questionably in 3 high profile cases where the killer was let off by his ruling on manner of death, and every time, THEY THEN KILLED SOMEONE ELSE.

I didn't believe it, but I read details on every case. How does he still have a job?

I wrote to the Commissioners, and one of them (Helen Goreham) wrote me back with a brief note.

More from the board:

Helen Goreham now getting a little snippy when I asked for an update on this matter:

"I have asked for your patience and understanding as the Board addresses this situation."

Just to be clear, Brian Frist makes more money than any Medical Examiner ANYWHERE. And he is unqualified and makes lots of mistakes. He has falsified autopsies and an audit shows that he didn't have a Business license, doesn't document training of his employees, cannot account for spending or record keeping involving using county employees for his personal business.

What is taking so long ?
he is fired

So, you wait for a citizen to bust him falsifying autopsies, then you don't fire him, but let him stay on and resign at his own convenience?

C'mon !

Yes, and if you research a little (just search his name) you see that the Board of Commissioner had no idea what was going on until a private citizen dug it all up. Then....they did nothing!

The citizen (looks like the original author here) went to the public and the medical boards .The ME resigned because of that pressure. The county was going to keep him anyway! why didn't they listen? Now they look like idiots.
