Is it safe to perform procedures in third world countries that are not legal here in the US. Here in the US family physicians do not perform surgeries. Why are we held to different standards in a third world poverty stricken country. Is it Fair? Can a surgeon truly be "competent" if he/she operates so infrequently?

Is it fair? Well, ask the guy in rural Africa who needs his insides put back together. Maybe he would prefer to just sit outside the hospital and bleed to death rather then let a family med doc who might not be "competent" try to save his life.

Surgical training, on some level, is part of a family medicine residency program. These docs aren't some sort of medical gun slingers out for a good time. They are skilled professionals, doing the best they can in places that don't have the privilege of being held to the same standards as American medicine.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Libra

An emotional situation is as clear as mud today. You aren't sure about your feelings for a certain someone, nor are you convinced that you know what they're playing at. They may be saying one thing and doing another, and you might even suspect that they're playing games with you or trying to get what they can out of the relationship. Or maybe you're imagining the whole thing? Admit it - at this stage you simply don't know.
