So sad when trusted people take advantage of the innocent. I pray for your child and the countless others including those that will never come forward. They usually go over and above to prosecute people who were in positions such as police or clergy....as they should. This jerk will give law enforcement a black eye. He should fry as far as I am concerned. What a sicko!

Officers are suppose to be here to help the adluts, children, and young teenagers. A lot of parents have tough there children to trust police officers so how can I teach my child to trust them now for what they have seen on television? You have cops beating up people to much to their advange. You have shown that on television that just makes the children more afraid of police officers. Now you are showing a officer being arrested for having sex with minors so how can we make our kids trust the police depment, and as us adluts trust them?

How come is he on leave why is our tax dollars paying his salary still, and sitting in jail? He has gave the police depament a black eye now it's going to take the police depament a long time to bring up the trust in the adluts, and in our children. My oppoin is this let the inmantes have him you know inmates do not like cops, and don't not like sex affenders. Then we don't have to worry about a trial then.

He's on paid leave until he's actually arraigned and if there is enough evidence to proceed and then the city can proceed to fire him. But they can't by law. And it's there for a reason.

Exactly. To prevent the kind of "vigilante justice" some here are so fond of advocating.

And what if YOU were the suspended and accused officer? Or if it was someone who was part of your family/friends circle? Would you be so quick to have everyone rush to judgment in YOUR case, or theirs, should that ever happen? I rather doubt it.

Guilt or innocence aside, EVERY person accused of a crime, including those accused of sex crimes, have the same constitutional protections as you would, if you were ever the accused. It is the STATE's job to meet the burden of proof, not the job of the accused to "prove his innocence."

Obviously, some of you need a reminder of that fact. Because but for a twist of fate, the accused could be YOU, or someone you love, care about, or are just friends with.

We all seem to forget one thing, and that is a police office is a human being, with all the faults that go with it. Yes they are suppose to be on a different level than most. Now although I don't know the numbers but I assume and rightfully so that compared to a person that isn't a cop the percentage of cops that commit a crime is far below what another person might do. If you get my point. So still talk to you child that a cop is their friend. And one other thing as I have said in other blogs in most (99%) cases a sex crime is committed against a person that the person is related to or is a close friend, which is most likely true in this case. Although the complete facts isn't out yet. So be patient justice will be served.

How come we see on the news he has awhole a lot more counts on him. His wife, and other people have put a stranging order on him then more things coming up on him more, and more everyday. So that means if you are backing him there are a couple of things. One you must cop or a family memeber child melster or he is paying you so which one are you? How can you back somebody up when the courts are finding more evedenice on him. If you hear these things on the news, and if the dea and the lawers have it that means what? Are you saying they are liers or are you to stupid enough to relieze it. I think you are stupid enough to believe him, and support him. A cop backs up a cop, a family memeber will back him up, and so you have to be one of them.

If your comment was directed at me. To be honest I was just trying to be fair and telling the person let justice follow it's course. Our system is based on that a person is innocent until proven other wise. I wasn't backing him!

I had not heard about a restraining order his wife placed against him. And I had not heard anything about more charges until after I posted my comments.

Most often the DA adds on as many charges as they can, and not for justice, but the more they can file the more chance a person will plea bargin them down from maybe it started with 5 counts and will drop 4 for the interest of justice.

If he in fact did the crime then he should do the time. I withhold my judgment until then.

Hi Mike; thanks for the kind words. I feel it's VERY important, for the sake of ANYONE charged with a crime, regardless of what that crime may be, that people stop to think before rushing to judge the accused person "guilty" or "not guilty."

That's why we have the criminal justice system in place, to make sure that anyone accused is treated fairly, and receives due process at all levels of the case, from arrest to trial. To do anything less is unacceptable, and seriously erodes the right of EVERY citizen to receive a fair trial, should it get to that point.

Edward R. Murrow said it best, in my view:

"We must remember, always, that accusation is not proof, and that conviction depends on evidence and due process of law."

He said that in 1954, at the height of the McCarthy "communist" witch hunts.

More people should have remembered that during the even more terrifying days of the Bakersfield "child molester ring" witch hunts in the 1980's. The principles of evidence and due process of law are what separates the U.S. from the banana republics like China and Cuba, where both are conspicuously ABSENT.

So you are all ready to judge this officer "guilty" because of what you're reading in the local newspaper? This is exactly the kinds of "dirty" tactics the prosecutors often use when they are more interested in getting convictions than they are with the honored concepts of the presumption of innocence and due process of law.

Am I saying ALL prosecutors engage in these tactics? NO. But unfortunately, too many of them do, the same as rogue prosecutor Mike Nifong in NC did in the Duke Lacrosse case. All this does is deliberately taint the jury pool in favor of the prosecution, which seriously compromises and even endangers this person's right to a fair and IMPARTIAL trial in the town.

Remember what I said in an earlier post about that "twist of fate." It could just as easily have been you, under different circumstances. Would you want YOUR right to a fair trial destroyed because of what may have been printed in a newspaper or news magazine? I rather DOUBT it.
