It has become a topic in my circle of corrections officers at the Jackson County Jail using drugs and nothing being done about the situation. Has anyone else heard this? These officers are paid to guard inmates that are in jail for the same thing that the these officers are alledgedly doing. Who is to be held accountable if this is happening and why is it not being stopped?

If you think this is happening why are you putting it on this stupid website? Go to the authorities - if nothing is done, believe it or not, there is a big, big world outside of Jackson County where the higher-ups in Tallahassee WOULD look into it.

No, you haven't done that have you? Instead you just come on here starting gossip.

Anyone who doesn't have their head in the sand must realize guards and other employees bring in contraband. Inmates certainly aren't going out to get it.- mandatory search everyday when reporting to work.

Better yet have a outside group do the mandatory search and make sure you search Lou

IF you know of and have proof of these people using drugs, then you shouldl definately go to the authorities. Why would you even start this discussion. Your question was...does anyone else know of this happening. What does that matter? You say you do so go report it. Unless its just gossip and you want to gossip some more. If you arent going to report it, with either proof or as you being a witness to it, then drop it. Sounds like someone is pissed with someone else and wants to start a nasty rumor. Those employees are drug tested randomly.

Was talking to a CO the other day, he made the comment that most of the CO's either bring in contraband ( cigs, drug, cell phone, etc,) or they know of other Co's doing it and they close a blind eye to it.Its a racket they use to make money on the side. And then they complain when they dont get raises or hours are cut. And this has been going on long before any cuts so they cant use that as an excuse.
I have been a CO for 15 years and have never even thought about bringing in contraband of any type for a sorry assed inmate. I know some have done it, and when I know of it, I report it. The only thing I will give an inmate is what the State says they have to have, no more, no less. That is if it is available, and they have a legitimate reason for needing it. I do worry about not having a raise for 7 years. Everything is going up except my paycheck. It is a sad day when a CO get caught messing up. It is usually a sorry assed female that is screwing a sorry assed inmate that gets caught, but I have seen a fair number of males get caught bringing in stuff for them sorry bastards. When a CO brings in stuff like that, it jepordizes my life, and I son't like it.

How many that you have reported has lost their job? This should be zero tolerence i don't care if its drugs , cigs , cecllphones or whatever. Some have a racket supplying the inmates with cigs and nothing is said.If you dont do it and report anyone who does then i commend you but most are not like that.
